Summary of Job Duties:

The Regional Accountant provides leadership in accounting for the Rice Research & Extension Center, the Southeast Research Station, and the Pine Tree Research Station. The Regional Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the station's accounting, including the payment of invoices, internal and external billings, payroll costing allocations, vehicle and other required reporting, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial summaries and budget reports. Some duties may be delegated to other station staff, with the Regional Accountant assuming review responsibilities. The Regional Accountant works closely with station management and faculty on financial planning and monitoring of budgets.

The Regional Accountant regularly makes decisions for establishing work priorities and managing activities, and coordinates workflow and interactions at each station. The Regional Accountant will be officially based in Stuttgart and work with station managers to provide an on-site schedule that is agreeable to all parties.

The Regional Accountant has supervisory responsibility for classified and/or temporary accounting staff at various locations. Additionally, the Regional Accountant may perform other duties as assigned based on current workload and station objectives and priorities.


Qualifications:


Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field.

Preferred qualifications: A Master's degree in Accounting, three to five years of related experience, experience in Workday.
