Position Summary:

The Manager of Transportation is responsible for managing the relationship with the 3PLs contracted to support the Amplify transportation network with a budget of $50MM annual spend across US and Canada. This position will be the 3PL liaison, as well as a close partner with internal groups including Customer Service, Supply Planning, Manufacturing and Distribution. The position will leverage relationships with key internal and external supply chain partners to implement recommendations to optimize the network, minimize costs, and improve On Time Delivery. Key Focus areas include
  • Support & drive supply network strategy plans to align with manufacturing sites, warehouses and customers balancing OTD and total spend.
  • Manage transportation budget - Report risks and opportunities on monthly basis as well as building annual plans.
  • Tactical management of lane challenges with low performing OTD and/or unfavorable cost variances.

    Priorities & Responsibilities:

    • Provide relationship management for Transportation Operations supporting the day-to-day activities.
    • Weekly reporting of OTD metrics including root cause, trends and action items to address opportunities.
    • Hold 3PL accountable for meeting the plan:
      • Proactively understand how we spend money & remove inefficiencies
      • Hold 3PL accountable for technology advancement and continuous improvement
      • Improve upstream order efficiencies with Customer Service / Supply Planning and Warehouse teams.
      • Track continuous improvement commitments
    • Semi-annual review of collect pick up program including allowance vs current rates, On time pick up vs fines and fees imposed.
    • Support preparation of Annual Plans, Outlooks and Strategic Plan Development for transportation
    • Provide leadership and project management to conduct, analyze and implement new technologies
    • Input into Amplify Annual budget.


    Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

    • Experience with Supply Chain operations including 3PL transportation and breadth of knowledge in other Logistics functions including warehousing and planning.
    • Experience in transportation RFP process and fuel programs.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

    Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in preferably economics, supply chain, engineering, finance, or other analytical field.


    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Transportation, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Operations with at least 2 years of management, leadership or relationship management experience.
    • Additional positions requiring the use of quantitative methods to analyze situations and solve business problem are preferred.
