Position Description:

The Manager, Trade Promotions develops and implements comprehensive business development and trade investment strategies to deliver annual volume, gross / net sales revenue, profitability, and measurable field objectives across channels of trade and all customers of Amplify Snacks. This position coordinates cross-functional planning efforts with marketing, operations, finance, and accounting and then owns the deployment of strategic initiatives to the sales organization to ensure financial alignment against the AMPS priorities across the customer base. The Manager, Trade Promotions serves as the primary internal voice of sales from both a channel and customer standpoint, working collaboratively with the senior leadership team and cross-functional peers to drive superior business performance. This role develops innovative go-to-market strategies and assists in creating a sustainable planning process that leverages strategic trade investment, price planning/revenue management guidance, account planning tools and templates, creating a gross revenue plan, and establishing annual sales plans for volume and price to optimize customer spending (AMPS).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Trade Promotions Lead as well as Sales Planning Director and Sales VPs to lead the AOP process by holding the total sales team (including broker partners) responsible for achieving Quarterly and Annual targets across all aspects for trade; Variable, Slotting, Coupons, CPU, R&A, and Spoils.
  • Work with Trade Promotions lead to facilitate alignment with the commercial finance team to allocate sales and trade targets across channels, customers, and brands
  • Help train and hold team accountable to the monthly trade management process in alignment with the corporate fiscal calendar including deduction resolution, accuracy of inputs to the trade system, sales and trade forecasting, alignment of slotting plans to new item gains.
  • Work with Sales Leads/Sales VP to build and consult on customer specific initiatives to validate ROI and sustainability including route-to-market MAPs guidelines, customer specific volume incentives, Joint Business Plan proposals
  • Assist the team internally to facilitate contracts and new customer set-ups with the sales leads
  • Train and lead communication with Broker BMAs and Business Managers on Trade System (AFS)
  • Understand and analyze syndicated and shopper data from Customers to identify opportunities and make fact-based strategic recommendations. Challenge plans that are built on a "rates and dates" mentality .
  • Facilitate/coordinate monthly financial meetings for Customer inputs and support P&L improvement initiatives
  • Proactively seek to improve business practices and processes, especially as it relates to promotional spending and trade management.
  • Support executive team in determining spending priorities and the establishment of minimum ROI standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance partners to maximize return on trade spend and drive overall trade efficiency while fostering a strong Post Promotional mindset with the field sales team.
  • Set direction for the Sales Planning team including creation of activation plans and process setting for all national activities including annual planning, Monthly Business Reviews, and Executive summaries
  • Train and educate sales teams on the use of brand and category syndicated data and recommend competitive strategies and resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting and planning tools to deliver actionable insights to the sales leadership team and their direct teams.
  • Mentoring and professional development of direct reports and other Trade Promotions team members

Primary Requirements:

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Preferred candidate will have 6 - 8 years of CPG Trade, Sales, and/or Category Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of syndicated data and trade marketing processes.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, problem solving, and managerial skills.
  • Strong understanding of budget management, business cycles, and key financial drivers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
