Our location in Columbus, OH (Tech Center) currently has an opportunity for a Specialist, Quality Assurance. Columbus, Ohio, is Abbott's oldest nutrition manufacturing plant in the world. Working here, you'll feel part of a family - a family of 400 that works together to help nourish the world.

This position reports to the Quality Manager, R&D. Ensures that all Abbott Nutrition products manufactured by Process Research Operations meet the highest standards for quality required by regulations. The Specialist Quality Assurance will develop, facilitate, provide support to, and maintain Process Research Operations quality systems. The Project Leader needs to be team oriented, agile, innovative and able to anticipate and mitigate risks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Assures food safety using HACCP principles and Microbiological knowledge
  • Leads root cause investigation and implements effectives corrective actions for circumstances where quality standards are not met
  • Performs track and trend analysis on quality data and takes the necessary actions to mitigate risk
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement within the quality system and implements tactical solutions to mitigate risk
  • Communicates confidently and effectively with management, peers, and key stakeholders
  • Prepares quality documents and ensures accuracy of documents within Quality Systems
  • Displays working knowledge of applicable product regulations and policies
  • Works on problems and projects that can have significant business impact


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required
  • B. S. in a Related field such as Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, or other technical science area
  • 3 years or more of working experience with a preference in the food and beverages and/or nutritional industry
  • Open to professionals with 3 years or more of working experience coming from the consumer goods and/or pharmaceuticals industries
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles


PREFERRED
  • Master's Degree
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula, adult nutrition, and performance nutrition
  • Knowledge of food processing techniques, documentation requirements, and lean six sigma methodologies
  • Experience in the scale-up and commercialization of product innovations
  • Proficient technical writing skills; able to communicate issues effectively and concisely
  • Ability to effectively organize and communicate technical information
  • Ability to work independently and/or function with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking
