Associate Business System Consultant

Our location in Conway Park (Lake County, IL) currently has an opportunity for an Associate Business System Consultant.


This position is the primary liaison between the IT and Core Diagnostics Quality business areas. Provides direct support to Quality business areas including post-market surveillance, quality management systems, research and development, supplier management, and operations quality such as quality laboratory testing. Works directly with business clients; applies IT and business knowledge to develop and understand the business case and business requirements to solve for technology related business problems

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Supports Core Diagnostics' Quality business, including change control, training, complaint handling, supplier management, quality reporting as well as quality laboratory testing and global standardization.
  • Develops business relationships and integrates activities with other IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.
  • Manages relationships between business clients and IT organizations to assure effective communication between the various groups.
  • Seeks to understand business strategy and assist in development of the IT strategy that ties back directly to the business strategy.
  • Manages and provides expert advice on, the selection, design, justification, implementation, and business use of information systems. May conduct training.
  • Applies and executes standard information systems theories, concepts and techniques and assists in the development of standards and procedures.
  • Analyzes business processes; elicits, analyzes, and documents business requirements; identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and makes recommendations typically seeking to exploit and leverage new or existing IT technology components.

Position Accountability & Scope
  • Manages initiatives according to milestones and within budget constraints.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements. Allies with other IT functional areas to remain current on project status, and inform customer management of progress; conversely, keeps IT managers aware of user issues and resolves conflicts.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Proactively seeks out strategic business opportunities with business unit executives for the application of new or existing IT capabilities. Identifies process disconnects and translates them into improvement opportunities with cost savings or avoidance, productivity improvements, or revenue generating business benefits.
  • Identifies the impact of any relevant internal or external regulations on the organization's use of information.
  • Develops project financial plans and manages business long range planning and capital requests.
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of business judgment to determine if overall results and objectives have been achieved. Has defined authority and responsibility for a significant area of work, including technical, financial, and quality aspects. Accountable for actions and decisions taken by self and subordinates.
  • Coach or mentor less senior IT professionals.

Minimum Education & Experience Required:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience supporting IT solutions for business; preference for experience with In Vitro Diagnostics and/or Quality business processes
  • Project Management experience - Successfully managed project portfolio with projects ranging from $250M - $5MM
  • Experience with vendor management, Phase 0s, Statement of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP) reviews.
  • PMP Certification and/or BRM Certification a plus
  • Proven experience and understanding of the complete software life cycle (SDLC).
  • IT knowledge of the following disciplines: a plus Trackwise Digital, SharePoint, Teamcenter, Documentum, STARLIMS, HP Quality Center
  • Experience with audit preparation, CAPA, IVDR, eMDR, and/or related regulations or equivalent experience.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good influence and negotiating skills.
  • Self-directed with strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - Computer science, business administration or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience
