The Opportunity

Goodman Manufacturing Inc, a member of Diakin Industries, is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Lead Compliance Engineer 3 position located at our DTTP - Waller, TX location. The Design Engineer works with the Engineering team to develop and sustain residential and/or commercial HVAC-related products. Designs, analyzes, and documents new or existing products from the requirements provided. Creates and sustains specifications using engineering analysis and judgment. Oversees the development and testing of engineering prototypes. Communicates and coordinates with vendors to obtain information and assistance. Daikin Texas Technology Park- has a footprint of 4.23 million square feet under a single roof, and is the third largest factory in the United States. May include;
  • Coordinate compliance, certification and recertification activities with domestic and international; agencies.
  • Assist with product design and development by providing guidance based on technical knowledge and experience for compliance related activities.
  • Develop and manage certification project schedules for compliance related activities,
  • Support the certification needs of new product designs and
  • Support the needs of existing products with design modifications for quality and cost improvements.
  • Participate in standards development, working with functional departments to react to communicate upcoming changes and to develop a plan for to meet all performance, construction and marking requirements without interruption to certifications.
  • Train engineers on the Goodman Certification Process and basic product requirements
  • Manage internal and external resources to meet project workloads.
  • Participate on cross functional teams to launch new products, product modifications, resolve issues, and support product improvements.
  • Assist engineering with defining certification project scopes and schedules.
  • Provides support for manufacturing quarterly inspections, laboratory certifications and field compliance issues.
  • Perform other job duties as required by Supervisor

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Expertise in both national and international standards that define safety and regulatory requirements for HVAC products.
  • Experience in product standards development

  • Project management skills
  • Key words: UL, CE, RoHs, NEC, ETL, MEW, Kukas, Nom,
  • Excellent Communication Skills - Written & Verbal, able to interface with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership skills - must be able to obtain results through others
  • Decision making skills -must be able to make critical decisions with limited information and time
  • Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project
  • HVAC experience preferred

  • Minimum of 10 -15 years of experience with domestic and international compliance and certification programs
  • Experience with HVAC/ Refrigeration/ Combustion/Gas Furnace preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience.

  • BS - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • MS - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred
