Research Assistant I

SUMMARY

To provide technical assistance in caring out various research projects for Orthopaedic Oncology.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

PI Support

1. Assist PI with clinical research protocols. To include protocol development, data abstraction, quality control, analysis of results.
2. Assist PI with manuscript preparation of completed research projects
3. Assist PI with projects in Innovation lab. Help collect data and complete projects

Clinical research - Outcomes of spinopelvic resection and reconstructive techniques 2 studies -
1) Functional outcomes after complex spinopelvic resections and vascularized tibia reconstruction. The RA will perform chart review for data collection and manuscript preparation.
2) Utility of stereotactic navigation based virtual osteotomy guides for complex spinopelvic resections. The RA will perform chart review for data collection and manuscript preparation.

Lab - Spinopelvic biomechanics 2 studies -

1) Biomechanical testing of a novel spinal implant. The RA will assist in developing the protocols in collaboration with our Texas A&M biomedical engineers. The RA will work with the engineers to complete the experiments and collect, analyze, and summarize data.
2) Biomechanical testing of a novel photodynamic stabilization system. The RA will assist in developing the protocols and perform experiments on biomimetic models. The RA will work with our engineering collaborators to perform biomechanical testing, and collect, analyze and summarize data.
