Front Desk Receptionist-Venice

Responsibilities

Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose mission is 'To provide quality primary health care to people in need.' Venice Family Clinic cares for over 28,000 low-income patients in over 120,000 visits annually who might otherwise go without critically needed health care services. Venice Family Clinic has eleven clinical sites with over 350 staff, 1,700 volunteers, and a budget of $50 million. We provide high quality, comprehensive primary and specialty health care, dental, mental health, substance use treatment and child development services to underserved individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.

Under
the general supervision of the front desk supervisor, you will perform a full range of
reception and call center duties: You will financially and
geographically screen and pre-register patients using the NextGen system. You will also verify
insurance eligibility via appropriate website and update demographic and
insurance data as necessary in NexGen system. You will collect and post donations, fees and charges from patients at time of
check in, balance and closed daily batches at the end of the shift. schedule appointment follow ups, prep charts
for next day, prepare new charts,
financially screen patients at time of check in, scan insurance cards into
NextGen, accept donations/fees, print receipts and balance batches at the end of
shift. You will also have various Call Center responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated work experience in high volume front
    desk or medical setting
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication
    skills
  • Oral communication skills to receive and
    convey information clearly and concisely
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact
    effectively with staff, patients and public
  • Knowledge of major medical insurance plans,
    Managed Care Plans through Medi-Cal and Covered California coverage and benefits
  • Ability
    to verify insurance coverage via the internet in appropriate websites
  • Ability to count money and make change when
    accepting payments and donations in NextGen system
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy 45+
    wpm
  • Ability to file alphabetically and
    numerically
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings on an as needed basis
  • Ability to provide
    coverage at multiple sites (Rose, Pico, RLHC and CHC) on an as needed basis
