Summary of Job Duties:

The Contract Manager will report to the central IT Services organization. This position is responsible for procuring, managing, and negotiating IT contracts and licenses for hardware, software, and services. The Contract Manager will maintain an understanding and advise IT leadership on state and university procurement policies and procedures; negotiate requirements and provisions in contracts, including terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with all laws, policies and procedures of the university, system and state; develop and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors and campus partners; analyze contract risk to the institution and execute changes to reduce overall risk and exposure to the institution.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least four years of experience in procurement or contract management with at least one year of experience in negotiating contracts

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
  • Experience with principles and practices of public acquisition including preparing contracts, writing specifications, and evaluating products and services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with public sector purchasing or contracts management
  • Experience with state procurement laws, policies, and procedures including interpreting, applying, and advising leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to explain and present complex financial information in lay terms
  • Proven track record of successfully preparing, negotiating, and managing complex IT-related contracts (ie software, hardware, and professional services)
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and business practices in order to ensure adherence to organizational standards, values, and policies
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working in and fostering a diverse, multi-cultural environment

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws impacting proposed contracts
  • Knowledge of contract procurement laws and practices
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work with a high degree of initiative and dependability
  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity

Salary Information:
$60,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
