Opportunity :

Our Parsons New York /New Jersey regional offices are now hiring for a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support our rail & transit transportation projects in the Northeastern US.

This role is focused on power distribution and lighting engineering and design for transit projects. This role will lead the support design functions on refurbishment and renovation of electrical equipment and systems for Metro Rail and Transit systems around the New York City area and region. This role will apply electrical engineering techniques and analyses and the selected candidate will be proficient in electrical engineering schematics and standards. You will work with electrical CAD designers to review drawings and provide technical input on drawings and specifications suitable for electrical procurement and system installation. This role can be virtually based in the general New York City regional area, inclusive of New Jersey and Connecticut.

Responsibilities:


Prepare often complex electrical engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, designs, specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

Prepare various power distribution and lighting engineering and design support to various rail & transit projects, inclusive of load calculations, in the NY/NJ region.

You may be asked to prepare detailed requisitions for electrical equipment and related materials as well as review supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
For maintenance tasks or system installation, you may also advise technicians in troubleshooting system malfunction and review preventative maintenance plans.
Building modifications comply with electrical code requirements and original design intent for the facility and your abilities to support cost estimating for electrical related scopes of work.

Qualifications:

8 years or more of related work experience, preferably in electrical design of transit , transportation, or facilities projects.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) from an accredited institution
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required for this role
Strong background in cost estimation for scope of work development and subcontractor specifications and equipment is highly desirable.
