Parsons is one of the world's largest transportation planning, engineering, and construction firms. We are actively seeking a Sr. Bridge Designer/Drafter to add to our Bridge Team in Baltimore, Maryland. In this role you will be working with Bridge teams in the Maryland region, but could also support other teams in the DC/VA or southeast regions as needed. Our teams share resources which means more diverse work projects for you, and exposure to other exciting Bridge projects going on around the country.

In this role, you will develop drawings for highly-technical, complex design projects, focused on bridge structures, utilizing either 2D or 3D CAD methods. You could be involved with the layout of complete systems or components of a larger project. Candidates with concrete and steel bridge experience are preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare difficult and complex layout and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge.
  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.
  • Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
  • Meets layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.
  • Ensures compliance with required tolerances and specifications.
  • Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.
  • Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others
  • Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Assists in training lower level Designers in various procedures.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Has in depth knowledge of Projectwise.


Qualifications:

Associate's or equivalent technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent work experience) is preferred
2 + years of relevant experience
Requirements include strong PC and CAD skills, as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software to complete design assignments. Experience utilizing Microstation and Projectwise is required.
