In the Biologics Global Technical Operations (GTO), we work closely with AstraZeneca's manufacturing network of internal sites and external manufacturing partners (CMOs), our colleagues in R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Commercial to provide technical leadership to ensure delivery of quality products to our patients and support our product pipeline.

This exciting newly created position is accountable for establishing/maintaining a system and a process for tracking GTO's project portfolio. This will require the development (or creation) of portfolio visualization using a project resource software tool. Once a system is identified this position will work with functional leaders to develop specific resource models within the system. In this position, you will work closely with GTO functional leads, Finance, and the Project Management Office to provide a system to visualize the portfolio of projects including projects within all areas of GTO's responsibility such as life cycle management, product launches, new product development, strategic initiatives, and other major activities requiring resources.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develops tools, systems, and procedures to effectively manage GTO's portfolio. Serve as the global subject matter expert (SME) and oversee governing process to ensure standard ways of working are maintained across the GTO network.
  • Lead implementation and rollout of new systems and ensure the models get updated and validated no less than annually.
  • Provides the tools and information to enable GTO leaders to prioritize workload against organizational and customer objectives.
  • Negotiates and influences across functional GTO groups promoting consistent and repeatable high performance. Establishes a network within R&D and other functions with similar responsibilities.
  • Maintains open communications with other functions (outside of GTO) as they pertain to project governance, training, resource management and allocation, project metrics and resource conflict resolution.
  • Lead and leverage efforts to track and maintain project resources by analyzing performance analytics like forecasted versus actuals. Report business findings to relevant business partners.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree. MS or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience required.
  • Experience in Project Management, Change Management and Communications.
  • Advanced analytics skills and experience of influencing business decisions through the provision of data insights.
  • Demonstrated broad understanding of technical and business drivers that influence project and portfolio progression.
  • Demonstrated good oral and written skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross functional teams.
  • Ability to successfully influence across levels, across functions, and with senior leaders.
  • Ability to work in a complex, dynamic, global environment; thinking strategically and balancing both long and short-term priorities.
