Senior Director, IT Business Partnering, Finance

  • Accountable for positioning Bristol Myers Squibb digital business priorities for the function:
    • Manages IT’s relationship with senior business leaders: SVP Controller, SVP FP&A, SVP Treasurer, SVP Commercial Finance, SVP Tax, VP Financial Shared Services, SVP Tax, VP Investor Relations, and numerous Executive Directors and Global Process Owners.
    • The incumbent must project a strong strategic perspective combined with a grasp of operational detail and be able to translate business aspirations into meaningful digital opportunities, for execution by delivery teams.
    • Overall accountability for strategic planning, prioritization and value delivery of a portfolio of IT-driven capability projects, and for ensuring that platforms supporting Finance capabilities are fit for purpose.
    • Also responsible for driving and representing IT on a wide range of cross-functional initiatives, including strategic roadmap development, Finance Strategy, China strategy for Finance and Integration initiatives.
    • Leads the development of strong and clear business cases for digital capability investments in support of the roadmap and aligned with the platform strategy.
    • Brings an external view by actively maintains awareness of external drivers in the business domain and relevant technology trends.
    • Understands where BMS should be competitively differentiated through technology, translates business needs into specific business requirements, sees realistic opportunities for IT to add more value, and balances this with a pragmatic understanding of “fitness for purpose”.
  • Provide functional strategic leadership and influence:
    • Builds strong partnerships with senior leaders in Finance and IT
    • Influences the strategic thinking of senior business leaders, and leans in to help business leaders to include future digital capabilities into their planning.
    • Establishes an effective working relationships with all relevant business leaders, is deeply involved with key business activities and forums, and takes full accountability for delivering the value proposition of IT.
    • Drives change through effective planning, execution and communication of business change management to support digital capability investments and value realization. Accountable for ensuring an effective change management plan is in place for their individual projects.
  • Leverages the matrix to get things done:
    • Advocates the IT operating model and understands the business partner accountabilities throughout the plan/build/run cycle, and builds trusting partnerships with IT delivery teams at all levels.
    • Constructively advocates for value by ensuring IT has the right balance of trade-offs between speed, quality and cost.
    • Connects and educates the business stakeholders on the broader IT capabilities and services.
    • Communicates successes and issues accurately, urgently, and to the right audience, and takes responsibility for resolution and management of expectations across stakeholders.
    • Leads with urgency, courage, tenacity and respect to initiate uncomfortable conversations in order to remove roadblocks to value delivery.
  • Provide strong and supportive management of direct and indirect team members

Mentors and develops staff to achieve and exceed performance, and to sustain talent pipeline for the future.

Required:
  • 10+ years of BioPharma experience, including an understanding finance processes.
  • Strong IT and Finance expertise to drive business value, including a broad understanding of business processes for one or more core business functions (e.g. Tax, Treasury, Order to Cash, Record to Report, Invoice to Pay, Financial Planning, other)
  • Track record of leading the analysis of complex and ambiguous business needs and integrating those into compelling and actionable strategic plans and investment business cases with global reach and impact.
  • Track record of delivering high-value digital capability projects within timelines and budget.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creative thinking and applying innovative technologies to use cases, in achieving a balance between pragmatic value and transformation.
  • Proven ability to drive efficiencies and strategic synergies across IT functions and platforms.


Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
  • Experience with large-scale ERP implementations and / or centralized planning, budgeting and forecasting capability implementations to ensure maximum value and effectiveness.
  • Seasoned direct and matrix management skills, with a particular emphasis on energizing and developing talent.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies applied to SDLC and IT services.
