Optum Health Solutions is an industry leading provider of technology-enabled products and solutions that help health plans, provider organizations and government organizations maximize the impact of programing and benefits for their populations across prevention and lifestyle, supplemental and ancillary benefits, complex specialty medical needs, and many more! We are looking for a Marketing Intelligence professional to lead competitor research and market sizing across key markets in collaboration with product owners and leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct market sizing and growth across healthcare markets including payer, employer and consumer
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of healthcare markets and trends through market research, data manipulation and financial modeling and analysis
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credible, high-utility data sources, and leverage them across the organization where appropriate
  • Lead primary research in collaboration with product owners and leadership with accountability for gathering, distilling, and disseminating market intelligence information across OHS
  • Establish regular communications to business and product leaders, translating market updates into insights and recommendations
  • Support the development and writing of the OHS long-range plan and go-to-market strategy; supply market and competitive intelligence components of strategic planning and make recommendations to management concerning key intelligence items that require further consideration
  • Conduct competitor research and maintain competitor profiles including, but not limited to, market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces to provide insights that support strategic decision-making and for use in internal presentations by senior leaders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal customers to identify emerging needs and business challenges
  • Maintains a pulse on industry dynamics and emerging customer needs, acting as a thought leader and subject matter expert on the Care Management market
  • Utilizes standard frameworks (e.g. Porter's Five Forces, SWOT, Market Maps) to create actionable research findings

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of analytical or similar professional services experience, delivering advisory services at the corporate level, or a demonstrated ability to execute against those skills "out of the box"
  • Experience developing market overviews, understanding competitive positioning, analyzing market trends, and understanding customer needs
  • Working knowledge of the payer and health services industry
  • Sound understanding of healthcare markets and trends
  • Ability to network effectively at all levels and influence without direct management oversight and operate within a highly matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Major Management Consulting or Investment Banking experience
  • Experience with SEC and Statutory Financial Filings (ideally with S&P Market Intelligence platform)
  • Familiar with ICD10 and DRG codes
  • Familiar with healthcare competitive intelligence databases including DRG, HealthLeaders, Definitive Healthcare and CMS
  • Demonstrated ability to build detailed business cases, inclusive of revenue / sales forecasting
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Sound organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadline constraints
  • Demonstrated strength in problem solving and analytics and capable of driving insight to action

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
