At Optum Insight Life Sciences, our Commercial Analytics group leverages claims and Electronic Health Record (EHR) data with statistical techniques to support our key pharmaceutical customers. We are seeking a statistical and quantitative lead to guide customer projects and contribute to the growing team.

The analyst's responsibility includes a combination of (1.) extracting data and preparing analyses for custom analytics projects (60% of time), (2.) providing statistical expertise to support custom projects (20% of time), and lastly (3.) providing thought leadership in developing the team, likely through modeling and advanced analytics (20% of time). This role is a good fit for those who are interested working with others in an open environment, where sharing of ideas is important. The existing team has deep background in the industry and works extremely well together, with most team members having 5-10 years of tenure in the team.

The Optum Insight Life Sciences Commercial Analytics team is focused primarily on growing business within the Brand Analytics, Market Access Analytics, Real World Evidence, and Advanced Analytics groups within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Medical Device sector.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Data extraction and analysis to develop analytical solutions to custom projects
  • Provide statistical analyses and testing as needed
  • Deploying the use of advanced analytics in customer projects and contributing to thought leadership. This individual will help to push modeling into our core projects but also to creating a culture of using advanced analytics within the team

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years healthcare analytics experience
  • 3+ years analyzing healthcare claims and Electronic Health Record data with SAS, SQL, R or other programming languages
  • 5+ years' experience with regression analysis, data science techniques, and/or Machine Learning
  • 3+ years extracting, merging, and manipulating data from large complex databases
  • Experience working independently on complex analyses across remote team
  • Experience communicating complex analytics and statistical processes to a wide variety of groups
  • Telecommute is available for this role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in quantitative or statistical discipline
  • Experience with Life Sciences Industry
  • Solid communication skills with both technical and non-technical collaborators
  • Experience leading statistical and modeling analyses
