About This Role

Strategic Analytics delivers a new laboratory paradigm to pharmaceutical development at Biogen through automation, data analysis, and data analytics. Our innovative process is critical in delivering results and insights quickly and efficiently to our scientists in Analytical and Process Development. The role will provide automated software solutions that transform scientific data derived from analytical instrumentation into visualizations that drive decisions and exploit the value from our data. The role reports to the Strategic Analytics group leader and will be among a diverse group of talented individuals from robotic engineers, data scientists, and data engineers who work collaboratively to the fulfill mission of the group.

  • Work with Strategic Analytics and their stakeholders to identify opportunities
  • Interact with scientists to translate business needs into transformative tools
  • Create automated data pipelines from analytical instruments
  • Build databases that connect and house structured scientific information
  • Create visualizations of scientific data that offer real time insights
  • Use APIs to integrate scientific data from multiple sources

Qualifications

Required Skills
  • BA degree in Computer Programing or Life Scienceswith 5+years experience
  • Ability to manage and connect diverse and complex data sources e.g., Omics
  • Translate unstructured data into serialized (JSON, xml, yml) and/or structured (DB) data
  • Database design and development (Oracle, MySQL/MySQL Workbench)
  • Skilled in the application of data visualization tools e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, and Power BI
  • Ability to lead projects and engage with relevant stakeholders and customers
  • Established process in solution design from user requirements, development, implementation, to maintenance

Preferred Skills
  • Background in Life Sciences and knowledge of pharmaceutical development
  • Use of R Workbench, R Connect or other server-based, centralized programming platforms
  • PH.D with 2+ years working experience
  • Experience in the operation and output of analytical instrumentation e.g., HPLC, Mass Spectroscopy, Raman
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Github and Bitbucket

Biogen’s US Alzheimer’s Franchise is looking to recruit proven and ambitious sales achievers with at least five years of experience in pharma, specialty, hospital, med device/capital equipment, and/or biotech sales.
In this field-based, specialty sales representative position you will be called upon to sell our products with key stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease community: including Neurologists and allied health professionals.
