Senior Events Technician

Primary Function
  • Provide audiovisual and videoconference technical support for broad, high level and complex multimedia events in conference rooms and event spaces; provide expertise and guidance to clients and technical and operational feedback to engineering and management.


Role and Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and strike conference room audio visual systems including varying types of microphones and sound amplification systems, video displays, AV device control systems, professional audio and video recording systems and video streaming platforms
  • Operate various professional presentation switchers, video playback systems, PTZ robotic camera systems, videoconference equipment, video projection and LED walls.
  • Set up and operate professional portable broadcast cameras for recording, IMAG, videoconferencing and webcasting
  • Perform AV equipment checks, tests and troubleshooting ensuring audio visual systems are operational prior to meetings
  • Setup PowerPoint presentations, connect laptops with display interfaces to portable and data projection; able to correctly size and adjust a data image on-screen
  • Hands-on experience working with various videoconferencing and webcasting technologies such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, ON24, Socialive, Mediasite and various polling software
  • Edit video and audio clips for post event replay links
  • Report system anomalies, equipment problems, customer relations issues or any other daily event concerns that arise
  • Support Pru Productions to fill-in as needed for ongoing operation and maintenance of conference rooms, halls, event spaces and television studios
  • Conduct pre-event meetings with clients, meeting planners and vendors to ensure audio visual requirements are met for each event
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional presence
  • Strong knowledge of current AV and broadcast industry practices, standards and procedures
  • High level of problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend and implement alternative set-up and/or operations for complex systems
  • Solid experience with AV control systems, video systems, routers, patch panels, lighting equipment, audioconference and videoconference equipment
  • Familiarity with computer networks (LANs, network connections and IP)
  • Strong working knowledge of various presentation software to assist presenters
  • Capability to read and understand wiring diagrams, CAD drawings and schematics
  • Solid work ethic – patience and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Additional video production skills such as live event video, editing or field experience are desirable
  • Willingness to be cross trained in multiple positions with a proactive attitude to jump in where help is needed
  • Ability to report for early morning and/or evening assignments as required
  • This role will be based out of Newark, NJ location. The individual be required to work onsite a few days a week or more as needed once we return to the office.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Audio/Electronic Engineering or related field preferred; or technical school training with electronics training and related experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with setup, operation and troubleshooting of conference rooms, auditoriums, theater, hotels and/or broadcast environment


Physical Demands
  • The duties of this position require the ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb ladders and to stand for long periods of time
  • Candidate must be capable of working at heights and have good balance
  • Candidate may be required to lift heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
