Parsons is looking for a sharp System Administrator to join our exciting and growing Space and Geospatial Solutions team. This System Administrator will directly support the US Space Force's Space and Missile Center (SMC) Enterprise Ground Service (EGS) SATOPS, Prototyping, and Integration (SPI) program and its goal to deploy a universal Command and Control (C2) architecture aimed at eliminating restrictions by continuously delivering enterprise tactical C2 services and applications that, when integrated with mission partner unique services and applications through the use of system administrator principles, will fully enable today's modern warfighter.

This role will align under the EGS Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Operations Support as outlined below:
  • Will need to provide effective and efficient system support of the SPI Lab environments
  • Work closely with system/software designers, operators, cybersecurity, and engineering to keep the SPI Lab secure and reliable
  • Coordinate the operational aspects of operations testing and training in the SPI Lab
  • Implement, sustain, and maintain the SPI Lab based on requirements/specifications, customer expectations, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Helps maintain the daily care-and-feeding of the SPI Lab to include cost control, patches, and user access
  • Keeping SPI Lab operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades and repairs
  • Optimizing and evaluating the system regularly
  • Support of SPI customers - internally and externally.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work closely supervised while following specific, detailed instructions or under general supervision
  • Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, expected to provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for problems involving system operations/administration
  • Hands-on experience with VMware and be able to design, create, and maintain on-prem virtual environments per engineering requirements
  • DISA STIG implementation / System Hardening and working within Configuration-Managed Environments
  • Work as part of a team responsible for administration and management of servers, end-user workstations in both unclassified and classified network environments; to include system backups, patch management, and group policy definition/maintenance
  • Analysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the system software to improve system performance by correcting errors
  • Participation in planning new hardware acquisitions, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization
  • Work closely with engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems
  • Support individual user workstations and associated software support
  • Support for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files
  • Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation
  • Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, start/stop virtual machines, and controlling services
  • Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes
  • Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, patching, and core services
  • Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication
  • Maintain up-to-date Configuration Control and adhere to all Configuration Management requirements for all Firmware, Software, and Hardware associated with the classified and unclassified networks
  • Prepare and submit status reports, and technical briefs, as required, to supervisor, senior management, and customers
  • Provide technical expertise at supervisor meetings, which may include necessary planning and scheduling of meetings
  • Develop, revise, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance on associated systems and network assets
  • Produce and deliver reports on system utilization
  • Configuring system logging (including remote logging), configure tools such as What's Up gold, CACTI, Solar Winds, etc.
  • Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH and NTP. Provide systems administration for all clients, servers, and peripherals connected to the classified and unclassified networks.
  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by Parsons.
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives, and responsibilities of the department

Minimum Security Clearance:
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • 8+ of years relevant experience with a BS OR 12+ years of relevant experience with a AA/AS.
  • 3-5 year of System Administration experience in VMware environment supporting Linux and Microsoft virtual machines
  • Extensive experience as operator of production environments in large application deployments.
  • Strong analytical skills and broad product knowledge.
  • Extensive experience with OS security involving Active Directory, Windows networking, Group policies, DNS, PKI & Certificates, LDAP, NACL, STIG.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and scalability factors in information systems.
  • Good grasp of concepts like distributed systems, multi-tenant systems, network protocols, network security, SSL, PKI, routing, and load balancing.
  • Understanding of operational concepts like change management, on call rotations, escalations, uptime, etc.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

Desired Qualifications and Skills
  • Active TS/SCI preferred
  • Knowledge of encryption algorithms, cryptography, and cryptographic key management concepts
  • Previous DoD experience
  • Previous experience with DoD classified and unclassified networks

Certification Requirements:
  • Security+ (ability to obtain within 90 days)
