Role Purpose

Member of the GDM Structuring team in New York (not managing others)

Responsibilities include:
  • Working with Trading, Sales, and Banking focused on the originate-to-distribute strategy
    • Origination of credit assets may be sourced internally and externally
    • Distribution of risk will take many forms (cash repack, synthetic, etc.)
  • Pricing of derivatives and financing products, and execution when appropriate alongside the relevant trading team
  • Product development and implementation (creating and designing new products, customising existing offering to clients and situations, TAP and NPDD product approval)
  • Marketing the fixed income product suite (client presentations, sales teach-ins and internal marketing)
  • Coordination with the other asset class teams to deliver joint products and solutions
  • Monitoring regulatory and accounting changes both on client and bank level and reviewing the impacts on derivative and financing products including identification of solutions to mitigate them


Management of Risk
  • Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking into account changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
  • Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.


Observation of Internal Controls
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in all capital markets products, and in particular fixed income derivatives, repurchase/reverse repurchase, and securities lending transactions, plus associated documentation
  • Specific knowledge of credit derivative products such as credit default swaps, total return swaps, loan participations, risk participations, synthetic correlation transactions, credit linked notes, basket trades, etc.
  • Understanding of cash and synthetic securitizations, as well as the cash flow modelling required for these deal structures
  • Experience with special purpose vehicles, documentation, and operational aspects (issuance, life cycling, payment mechanics, credit events, etc.)
  • Familiarity with capital relief transaction structures to reduce bank RWA's
  • Good overview on regulation and accounting, including upcoming changes which impact the industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with very strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
