Climate Risk Regional Programme Manager (HBUS)- Temporary Redeployment Assignment

Upon resumption of normal operations, this role may be performed at our Bufallo, New York office.

This role is responsible for managing risk change initiatives in support of the US Risk Orderbook. This role primarily supports Climate Risk related initiatives within the US Risk organization. This person leads projects and significant change initiatives, ensuring stakeholder, SME, IT and analyst engagement to ensure proper and timely execution. This role is to be dissolved 12/31/2022 with no additional responsibilities.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas
  • Ability to work in fast-paced development environment with optimistic trade-offs between quality of work and timeline
  • Experience working as project manager with in depth knowledge of all phases of the Change Framework
  • Experienced at gathering requirements and ability to analyse with good and varied experience of analysis artefacts (e.g. process flows, proof-of-concept)
  • Demonstrated analytical and reasoning skills including the abilities to convert the business requirement into technical specification and streamline the process using sound design
  • Ability to lead user acceptance testing, including generation and execution of test cases
  • Understanding of working under Agile methodology, preferably using JIRA/Confluence
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to run meetings and workshops as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with other teams that are geographically distributed
  • Ability to quickly adapt to team's culture, standards and best practices
  • Understanding of key Climate Risk methodologies/concepts
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of risk data
  • Ability to evaluate multifaceted information and convey the material in diverse ways appropriate for different stakeholders

  • Ensure that all procedures and best practices defined by the Change Framework are followed.
  • Appropriate documentation of business activities (requirements documents, release sign offs, emails, etc.) which may be required for future tracking or audit purposes.
  • Diligent confirmation that implemented solutions meet the business objectives, including compliance with specific regulations
  • Project progress tracked in Clarity in a timely fashion.

Management of Risk
  • Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which jobholder is involved.

  • Implement the Group compliance policy locally by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators


Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
  • Climate Risk Experience is desired but general transformation works if the experience is strong.
  • Should have enough Climate Risk knowledge to be a Business Analyst
  • Needs Counterparty Climate Risk experience to be able to speak to stakeholders
  • Must be well-spoken and influential

  • 3-5 years of Climate Risk and Counterparty Climate Risk desired
