Product Content Strategist

Role Value Proposition:

Content Strategist will lead the definition and development of branded visual and written content and digital marketing assets, including but not limited to online communications, white papers, digital media, employee communications and websites. The Product Content Strategist will drive brand growth & awareness, define product messaging & positioning, develop content, and create sales enablement tools. This role will implement and oversee communications programs, internal and external, to promote the organization and its products. This role will collaborate across cross-functional teams to help create and implement communication solutions for the Legal product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and own content processes and deliverables while collaborating across teams to deliver, for example:
    • Build product messaging and positioning for Legal Plans that sets it apart from others in the market and establish a unique selling point
    • Develop a keen understanding of MetLife Legal Plans and key offerings, and guide marketing strategies and recommendations to achieve business objectives
    • Develop copy for byline articles, writes and distributes press releases via approved channels.
    • Gain a deep understanding of our target customers, and build a strong capability to translate needs and preferences to drive compelling communications
    • Review and provide feedback on all pending marketing materials to ensure accuracy, tone / branding and correct grammar
    • Communicate the vision and value of new products to the sales team and develop sales tools that facilitate the selling process
    • Plan and participate in the launch of new services and products which involve several different departments
    • Field media inquiries and work with MetLife PR to coordinate media interviews. Provide media with pre- and post-interview materials as needed.
    • Oversee development of copy for paid media: online advertising, paid emails, advertorials and print advertising
    • Recommend new collateral pieces and exhibits for sales kits
    • Develop copy for emails and newsletters to be sent to prospects.
    • Assist management with developing and communicating department vision and strategy
  • Competitive Intelligence: Develop competitive intelligence by collecting and maintaining a library of other legal plans visual and written content. This info will be used to inform our strategy and keep a pulse on the marketplace.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required :
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a content strategy and/or content creation role
  • Strong business acumen with proven technical skills, specifically familiar and comfortable with concepts involving websites and mobile applications technology
  • Working knowledge of usability and accessibility principles, SEO/SEM approaches, content management
  • Working knowledge of graphic design principles and graphic design software platforms
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to work nimbly
  • Ability to travel to the Cleveland office one day per month once offices reopen, if remote


Preferred :
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English or related field
  • Strong existing knowledge of analytics- Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.
  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • A pulse on customer behaviors and pain points. You can wrap business value propositions into ideas and translate across platforms
