Onsite in Austin, TX and reporting to the MarCom Manager, the Graphic Designer will be instrumental in enriching Abbott's overall brand experience through digital marketing elements and print materials. Closely collaborating with the Digital Marketing team and other Marketing Communications team members, the Graphic Designer will execute design elements such as product launch campaigns, social media graphics, marketing collateral, manufacturing labels, and trade show materials. This individual is expected to be a brand steward and to provide guidance. The Graphic Designer must thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage time efficiently, work on multiple projects concurrently, present and defend concepts/ideas to internal Marketing team members, and communicate exceptionally well. As such, they should hold expert-level knowledge in illustration, digital marketing, front-end web design, etc.

What You'll Do
  • Responsible for the production and conceptualization of design solutions for use across a wide range of graphics applications, which include, but are not limited to, print, trade shows, events, and digital media
  • Develop and share design best practices with the Marketing Communications team and maintain expert knowledge of Abbott's Corporate Style Guide and all Corporate Brand guidance
  • Maintain the Abbott brand standards and appropriate supporting templates
  • Serve as the primary brand and design champion for the CRM Marketing Communications team
  • Manage the asset library, enforce brand standards, and be a key contributor in our project management process
  • Guide junior graphic designer(s) through constructive feedback and approvals of day-to-day task work and manage outside contractors, as warranted
  • Coordinate photography, illustration, and video work needed for jobs, which includes shot list creation and management, contract coordination, and other related activities
  • Design high quality content that is on-brand, creative, compliant, and appropriate for project objectives
  • Work hand-in-hand with the MarCom Traffic Manager who is responsible for managing the Creative Services job queue, and deliver materials on time and on brand
  • Closely collaborate with the Sr. MarCom Specialist, Traffic Manager, Digital User Experience, Global Product Marketing, and the Events team to bring materials from conception to production
  • Demonstrate the ability to think past a brief and to deliver beyond expectations
  • Cultivate a positive team dynamic, and exhibit a professional attitude by demonstrating a good balance between creativity and practical flexibility
  • Stay informed about best practices for design across all routine graphics applications and leverage this knowledge to enhance and grow the capabilities of the Graphic Design team
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, working well as part of a team, with a range of people
  • Adjust and create new work processes and output based on historical analysis

Education and Experience You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related field preferred work Experience
  • 5+ Years years of experience in graphic design or related area Required
  • 5+ Years years of experience in creating and maintaining brand standards Required
  • 5+ years of expertise in illustration, layout design, graphic design, and digital marketing program development
  • 5+ Years years of experience in a corporate medical device company environment Preferred

Training and Skills:
  • Must be a creative, energetic team player with strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate expert-level expertise in using the current version of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premier) and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must have the ability to take complicated scientific information and create approachable content
  • Must work effectively within tight timeline constraints
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of the requirements for effective communications through a variety of marketing channels, including, but not limited to, social media, graphic banners, and print ads
  • Light photography skills to support content, such as product shots, blogs, employee headshots (preferred), Light video editing skills (preferred)
  • Familiar with Monday.com or similar project management tool (preferred)
