Data Analytics Governance Manager

About This Role:

The Data and Analytics Governance Manager will be dedicated to data and analytics governance initiatives for Biogen’s US Commercial Organization and report to the Director of US Data Strategy and Governance. As a key member of the Data and Analytics Governance Office, the DAGM will design, develop, and disseminate data governance deliverables including department performance metrics to key stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

The Data and Analytics Governance Manager is the process owner and subject matter expert for data and analytics governance to support the following objectives:

1. Prioritization, acquisition, and management of data

2. Usage of data for business insights and decision making
  • Maintain and prioritize the Governance roadmap in alignment with the priorities of US Commercial business
  • Manage data policy activities such as data standardization, data policies, data quality, change control, and management of data governance stakeholders
  • Sustain the data and analytics governance framework and operating model, with a focus on measurement of and improving data quality through creation/modifications to policies, governance metrics, processes, governance tools, etc.
  • Facilitate the definition of key performance indicators and quality metrics
  • Operate data and analytics governance council, comprised of business, functional, IT, and data management stakeholders to implement data standards, set goals, define plans to achieve objectives, and resolve escalated governance issues
  • Educate and coach key business stakeholders to drive governance strategies across the organization

You are a dedicated data professional with proven a analytical and problem solving with a customer-focused ability to communicate across all levels of the organization. You have a deep passion for data analytics and governance, and you want to make a difference to the lives our patients.


  • 3-5 + years equivalent work experience in managing large-scale data-related activities and project management within a commercial life sciences organization.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices and related business and technology issues related to enterprise-wide information asset management.
  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues such as HIPAA and CCPA.
  • Excellent business process and change management skills with ability to develop strategy, evaluate efficacy, influence stakeholders, drive implementation and measure success.
  • Experience with data governance programs.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and reporting process.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical commercial data assets, vendors, and data management.

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of commercial analytics (Sales, Marketing, Managed Markets) in specialty markets.
  • SQL experience a plus.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
