Director, GTx Innovation Lead

Role Summary

Pfizer Rare Disease has a robust pipeline with 4 potential launches within the next 3 years. This pipeline includes a new transformative and breakthrough Gene therapy for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) which is expected to be our 1st launch within this franchise as well as 3 transformative, breakthrough hemophilia agents - Hemophilia A Gene Therapy (GTx), Hemophilia B Gene Therapy, and a subcutaneously delivered monoclonal antibody to treat hemophilia A & B (marstacimab). All of these products represent significant therapeutic benefits to patients offering breakthrough innovations that address today's high burden of treatment. The hemophilia launches will continue to reinforce Pfizer's legacy and leadership in the hemophilia space while the DMD launch will potentially create the anchor brand for us in the Rare Neurology space. Beyond these launches, there are several programs in development including for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in the hematology space and ITP/CIDP in the neurology space.

Pfizer is committed to becoming an industry leader in gene therapy and this represents an important opportunity for the Rare Heme/Neuro franchise to 'set the stage' for Pfizer to establish a new infrastructure of care for GTx and to ensure a successful launch. Further, the evolution of our go-to-patient model along with Bold Move 3.3. and other key customer engagement initiatives implies that exploring non-traditional ways of engaging with our patients/HCPs including through innovative digital solutions will be of utmost importance and relevant across both our TA's.

The Director, Innovation Lead will report to the Rare Disease Commercial Development Lead and function and lead the development of a 'digital ecosystem' for HCPs and patients that will support and improve experience / outcomes as well as explore innovative approaches to product and patient experience differentiation. The Innovation Lead will partner with other colleagues on the DMD and Hemophilia launch teams to ensure that innovative approaches are considered and where possible incorporated into Pfizer's launch plans. The Innovation Lead will partner with the Hem/DMD HCP Leads in the development of the digital strategy. Finally, she/he will serve as the interface with the Digital team to ensure alignment of brand needs and also work closely with the GTx Platform team to ensure learnings from the innovation spectrum are brought to bear for the Neurology and Hematology franchises.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of thriving in complexity and ambiguity, and ideally with experience in collaboration with key business partners, including Digital, PHI and the regions. Additionally, the candidate will be excited and passionate in exploring new and innovative ways to deliver value through leveraging digital channels

Roles and Responsibilities
  • GTx Connect: Serve as the lead for the GTx Connect program (current Pfizer program/pilot focused on digital solutions to align with external stakeholders) including defining busines requirements, feasibility assessments. Identify other potential options and comparison vs. GTx Connect and deliver a recommendation on the most optimal approach. Gain endorsement from leadership on final solution and partner with asset leads and digital to drive implementation.
  • Innovative Patient/HCP tools:
    • Lead implementation of "innovative patient & site services initiative" to develop digital ecosystem for patient services in partnership with the DMD & Heme Patient lead. This includes evaluation and eventual implementation of new ways to deliver a seamless customer/patient experience including supporting the patient journey with the right digital tools. Translate learnings from the Patient Services Corner initiative to the hemophilia team patient lead.
    • Define the integrated digital strategy for the Neuro and Heme franchise. Explore innovative approaches to delivering value including assessment of make vs. buy decisions. Identify innovative approaches being taken across and outside the industry including identification and engagement with external partners.
    • Partner with the brand leads and Digital to deliver the integrated digital strategy; serve as the point of contact for the Developmental CPA process for the franchise to ensure business requirements are appropriately incorporated; partner with Digital to drive implementation.
    • Serve as point of contact for the developmental CPA process to ensure business requirements are appropriately incorporated and translated; partner with digital to drive implementation of the solutions for the 1st launch.
    • Embed patient monitoring requirements to develop market-specific solutions to ensure data collection takes advantage of current & future digital & tele-health solutions
    • Training: Serve as the training lead to develop and deliver materials to support GTx Connect. Also develop playbook/roadmap for internal training materials to support launch.
    • Build relationships with other brand teams/pre-launch teams to leverage collective advantage in terms of patient services/tools.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Support the annual operating and tactical plan development process with the Franchise LT
    • Set and deliver aspirational objectives against to ensure launch readiness
    • Conduct all activities and makes decisions that are in accordance with Company policies & SOPs, Pfizer Values & global regulatory guidelines

Qualifications
  • 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in marketing/digital innovation/strategy/patient engagement, in pharmaceutical, medical device or biotechnology companies
  • BA/BS - degree required. Advance degree preferred
  • The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and support the team through key strategic decisions for Pfizer's rare disease portfolio as well as able to understand the operational complexities required to execute against GLocal Launch Readiness
  • He/ she must be mature, self-driven, have exceptional learning agility and a high degree of comfort with ambiguity.
  • Digital innovation and implementation experience preferred.
  • Product marketing and lifecycle management experience preferred
  • Alliance/strategic partnership management nice-to-have
  • Strategic cross functional leadership experience and ability to influence without authority
  • Strong communication skills, ability to infuse enthusiasm, energy, confidence into teams
  • Excellent leadership and engagement record
