Infrastructure Site Reliability Engineer

Infrastructure Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) are responsible for engineering software solutions to infrastructure problems. The ultimate purpose of the role is to improve service quality by preventing service impacting incidents and reducing mean-time-to recover (MTTR) when incidents do arise.
  • Collaborate closely with software and infrastructure teams to improve end-to-end monitoring and alerting for our production services.
  • Deliver lasting, preventative improvements that cross the development/operation team divides.
  • Coordinate our response to service impacting incidents

Responsible for:
  • Routinely modifying configurations or systems in a way that produces lasting improvements from a one-time effort.
  • Applying their expertise and experience to assist with architecting the next generation of services
  • Assisting with support on critical issue in high impacting incidents, coordinating SMEs and vendors as required
  • Representing ITID "outwards" to handle quality of service delivered
  • Working across the development & operations divide in the organization, using influencing skills to bring teams together for a common cause
  • Implementing change into technology that has stayed mostly the same for many years, persuading teams to adopt novel approaches to old problems
  • Taking care of fast paced, incident firefighting scenarios


Qualifications

  • Solid grasp of infrastructure technologies and their deployment in a global IT enterprise (
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate optimally with users of various technical skill levels, remaining calm and courteous while working to resolve problems.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Proficient documentation skills; able to fully document operational requirements, proposed solutions, processes and data flows effectively
  • Effective time management skills; with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously requiring experience with prioritizing tasks due to shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, and deadline pressures.
  • Ability to work in a multi country, culturally diverse and time-zone separated role.

Ideal candidate requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of professional industry experience
  • 10 Years of Technology industry experience
  • Technical background within Infrastructure-servers, storage, middleware, mainframe, routers, switches, load balancer
  • Preferably has scripting/automation skills- Languages (DevOps tools)
  • Leadership experience preferred
