VP, US Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances Lead


The VP, US Oncology Patient Solutions and Associations is a core, multifaceted, strategic leadership role for rapidly growing US market. The colleague in this role leads all advocacy, patient support, field reimbursement activities for the existing and future Oncology portfolio. Additionally, in partnership with Corporate Affairs, PCA and brand teams, owns the budget allocated for all the patient support activities, both directly manage by the BU and the enabling functions. This leader will have responsibility for a ~20 person group and four teams that span patient advocacy, patient solutions and field-based reimbursement services, which will continue to grow over time.

This role leads all aspects of the patient solutions and national associations (patients and professional) strategy, relations and operations to support advocacy network development, provider services related to patient reimbursement, and expansion of the markets served by the Oncology business. The VP, is responsible for the development and execution of the strategies and tactics needed to support the patient reimbursement and affordability (commercial and government) to any purchasing entity, in an appropriate manner and to the highest ethical, legal and regulatory standards .

The VP's purview includes leading the team responsible for the Oncology organization's understanding of patient support needs across brands, consulting on design of patient service and support programs, our patient service strategy, and innovation, branding, and promotion related to Pfizer Oncology Together, in collaboration with our Specialty Access Solutions team.

The VP will maintain relationships with national specialty pharmacy leadership and with Oncology Hub vendors to ensure adequate mutual understanding of strategic priorities.

The VP will design strategies to ensure product access to patients by serving as the Oncology point of contact to the Payer and Channel Access organization. The VP will lead the national and regional field reimbursement customer facing teams for Pfizer Oncology.

  • Strategic planning, implementation, and coordination of advocacy, alliance development and communications efforts that effectively address Pfizer Oncology's multilateral priorities.
  • Leadership of the strategy and plans to deliver on our health equity commitments across the Oncology Portfolio
  • Overall strategy development, direction, objectives, measurement and accountability of brand reimbursement strategies and tactics for Pfizer Oncology
  • This role will partner with Payer and Channel Access to analyze the Oncology market to understand coverage and reimbursement issues impacting brands, existing and emerging payer policies, formulary listings, competitive landscape, trends, pricing, contracting strategies, and potential barriers to provider and patient access. Monitor the evolution of payer policies at a macro level in the US that could impact the portfolio, monitor payer reimbursement decisions and FDA policies for recently approved products
  • The VP will contribute to business objectives as a member of the NA Oncology Leadership Team
  • The VP will work cross functionally to foster the development of market access capabilities by educating key stakeholders and aligning with Global PCA on the US reimbursement strategy and ensure plans are aligned with the global market access strategy
  • Work closely with Government Affairs team in order to understand the legislative/policy (current and future) impact on current and future products
  • Work closely with account and customer facing organizations to ensure professional organization engagement is consistent with broader customer strategy
  • Work with leaders of Business Development to give appropriate guidance on reimbursement issues (if any) for business development projects
  • Responsible for the leadership of a team, including development of job descriptions, objective setting for each employee, performance appraisals of each employee, coaching and corrective actions when require


Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred
• 15-20 years of experience in healthcare/pharmaceutical industry including 10 years of specific experience and demonstrated success with Oncology/specialty markets, managed markets, specialty pharmacy, and or/channel management
• Significant experience in US payer and access experience
• Experience interacting with Oncology ecosystem stakeholders
• Prior healthcare consulting experience highly desired
• Highly developed knowledge of healthcare industry, provider network, and health plan operations
• Experience establishing strategic vision, setting expectations and marshaling resources to deliver results
• Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple complex projects in various markets simultaneously
• Understanding and appreciation of legal and regulatory environment

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company and a fast-evolving market
• Proven leadership and management skills
• Must be familiar with medical contracting methodologies, claims pricing and reimbursement strategies
• Must be able to handle complex contract negotiations
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated success in influence/negotiation skills; ability to build and maintain productive collaborative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
• Track record of ability to effectively influence and interface internally at most senior levels in a large corporation and externally with large complex customers
• Strong communication skills; ability to mobilize key stakeholders and engage both colleagues and senior leadership
• Ability to navigate internal organization/processes and mobilize key internal stakeholders
• Track record of leading an organization to meet or exceed performance targets
• Previous supervisory/people management experience preferred and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change and deliver on Pfizer business objectives necessary
