The teams working on Growth unlock the full revenue potential of our subscription business by building experiences and developing capabilities that grow and engage qualified audiences, convert engaged readers into new subscribers, and identify and experiment with new growth levers. Subscribers are our most engaged and valuable users, and a key focus of the company's strategy for growth. We need to continue to develop and deepen the customer relationship.

As a core member of your project teams, you are expected to identify opportunities, suggest solutions, and act decisively when necessary to advance a project. We're looking for an action-oriented, hands-on project manager who can manage multiple teams and projects, and contribute to a culture of testing and learning. There's no "one-size-fits-all" here; each team can require different levels of involvement and intensity of agile processes.

What you'll do:

  • Project Leadership: Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Data to manage multiple UX design and software development projects from initiation through completion. Partner with your team to develop features, experiences, tools and services to make the way our subscribers use NYT as effective as possible.
  • Collaboration: Mediate among your cross-functional partners to bring consensus on priority, scope and realistic timelines. Motivate team members and maintain a healthy, collaborative environment.
  • Organization: Plan and facilitate agile ceremonies, work sessions, and presentations. Act the steward of your team's JIRA board, roadmap, and documentation hub. Identify gaps in process and tooling, and work with colleagues to continuously improve our ways of working.
  • Communication: Track and communicate project status, risks, and emergent issues that are readily accessible and current. Facilitate transparency and healthy dialog within and outside of your team.
  • Impediment Removal: Actively find, track and remove impediments to the Team's throughput and barriers to project completion.


Qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years experience in project management running diverse software development, web design, and/or product strategy projects.
  • You have a consistent record of successfully working with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and product managers.
  • You can effectively coordinate a team that consists of both on-site and remote team members.
  • You can communicate effectively both horizontally and vertically, relaying strategies, goals, and project status to both technical and non-technical partners.
  • You have demonstrated experience working in both Agile and waterfall methodologies and understanding of how and when to apply various workflows.
  • You exhibit knowledge of Jira, or other equivalent project management / task management tooling.
