Director, People Relations

About This Role
The Director of People Relations will oversee the company’s People Relations function globally and is responsible for developing and leading PR strategies and operations, including policies and procedures, and US leave management. This role reports into the Head, Global DE&I and People Relations and acts as an objective partner to HR, Legal, and key business stakeholders, and works collaboratively to counsel and provide proactive, effective employee relations solutions.

What You’ll Do

The Director will design programs and processes to promote employee satisfaction, that are consistent and fair, and that facilitate education, awareness, and effective employee solutions. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. The role will provide support in fostering an inclusive working environment through consistent and ethical leadership and will lead and develop a global team in this effort.
In addition, The Director of People Relations:
· Acts a subject matter expert on company policy, procedures, best practices, leaves, disability, and performance management; monitors and analyzes trends and legal updates to guide leaders on appropriate actions.
· Leads in the development of People Relations policies informed by external and internal trends and ensures proper education and communication of such policies.
· Fosters positive employee relations throughout the company by identifying, developing and driving philosophies and programs to improve employee engagement in the workplace.
· Investigates/resolves allegations of harassment, misconduct, performance management and various policy violations/concerns, consistent with the Company’s investigations protocols; adheres to department workflow and case management protocols; utilizes case management system to document.
· Acts as an integral liaison between Legal and other key corporate partners to support the defense of employment-related administrative charges and lawsuits; assists with company response to any labor activity and track all case activity.
· Partners with the HRBP and coaches managers on performance management and other employee relations cases; utilizes conflict resolution techniques to diffuse escalated issues, facilitates effective workplace relations, mitigates risk, and promotes high performance.
· Manages, leads and develops the People Relations and Leave Management team and provides daily oversight and direction.
· Educates HR Partners, Centers of Excellence and other employees and managers on People Relations and Leave of Absence content.
· Participates in various leave, employee relations, and benefit projects as assigned.
· Researches, designs and implements best in class practices to advance effective investigations, stakeholder engagement, and policy implementation.

Qualifications

Who You Are

You are a seasoned HR professional with at least 10 years of progressive HR experience and 5 years of employee relations or HR Partnering experience who leverages your exemplary judgment and relationship-building skills to influence enterprise-wide. Other qualifications include:

· People Manager experience, preferably of a distributed, global team.
· Extensive knowledge of U.S. employment laws and trends including understanding of U.S. EEO and Affirmative Action Plans, processes and procedures
· Expertise in employee relations procedures and processes such as leave management, investigations, performance management and reductions in force
· Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
· Outstanding interpersonal skills to diplomatically interact with all levels of employees, clients, and vendors. Experience interacting with executive leaders and other on complex, confidential and sensitive issues.
· Independent thinker with strong attention to detail and team orientation who is able to handle a high workload with agility.
· Ability to utilize and leverage data and analysis in the identification of emerging and progressive employee relations trends and practices. Able to compile, evaluate, interpret and present information and recommended plans of action.
· Strong mediation and negotiation skills; able to influence without authority.
· Ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with leaders and HR colleagues.
· Strong business judgment to balance the needs of employees with the interest of the company and its culture to ensure consistency and fairness, mitigate risk, and prevent liability
·Knowledge of cultural differences in different regions; works council knowledge a plus.
·Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with resilience and agility.
· Effective communication skills - written, verbal and listening skills with a high level of judgment, calm presence and stress management capabilities.
· Strong organizational savvy- ability to be a credible advocate and manage ambiguity while building strong relationships with leaders in the organization
· Bachelor’s Degree required, in business, industrial relations, HR or related field. PHR certification preferred. Experience as an HR Business Partner preferred.
