Sr Associate II, Grant Management & Strategic Giving

About this Role:

The Grants Management and Strategic Giving (GMSG) Office is dedicated to executing on Biogen’s global grants and giving strategy, which aims to catalyze scientific innovation, address unmet patient needs and advance medical and disease education. The Senior Associate II, Grants and Giving role is critical to the department’s success as you will act as the primary support for the Associate Director, Grants and Giving for an assigned portfolio of grants. Additionally, you will provide support in the management of the grants system platform and engage with internal and external stakeholders in a customer service capacity.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist in managing the foundationConnect (CRM) platform to meet evolving business and customer needs (e.g. IT support, license management, system enhancements).
  • Assist with the assigned portfolio of grants including organization qualification, due diligence, request review, decision communications, contracting, payments, reconciliations, and refunds.
  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, managing RFI during initial review of grant requests and conducting monthly outreach to grantees to ensure program launch.
  • Effectively track the ex-U.S. grant outcomes repository database to assist with defining educational gaps to influence strategic objectives.
  • Provide support with the GMSG phoneline, Grants & Giving mailbox, and other team repositories as assigned (i.e. ShareNet).
  • Assist with the Grants & Giving website including ongoing content revisions related to areas of interest, eligibility criteria and applicant resources.
  • Responsible for reporting to Finance, Compliance and Audit as per governance requirements.
  • Responsible for capturing Grant Review Committee meeting notes for GMSG and Compliance purposes.
  • Provide administrative and special project support, ensuring completion with minimal supervision


Who You Are:

You will demonstrate strong leadership qualities; excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, exceptional judgement and problem-solving skills and must have the ability to manage competing priorities.

Required Skills:
  • 2-4 years’ experience in Grants, Operations, Account Management, Customer Service, Project Management or related field
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to apply local regulations and codes, including but not limited to Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) Codes, PhRMA Code, OIG Guidance, and other regional equivalents
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • Moderate degree of technical/system acumen
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office tools, understanding of Salesforce, Oracle and grant management systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Skills:
  • 2 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or biotech
