Sr Associate IS Business Analyst


What you will do

In this vital role you will collaborate with business partners, service owners and IS peers to develop dashboards, predictive and prescriptive models and insights across the AML site. This role will innovate and build significant business impact through the strategic use of sophisticated analytics techniques to help Amgen with its mission of getting patients the therapies they need.

The Sr Associate IS Business Analyst is responsible system administration and owning the client relationship. They share the accountability for the maintenance, development, prioritization, implementation of the client strategy, and providing mentorship for informatics/IS related solutions. They may perform Client relationship activities, which include participation in Client departmental meetings, Client project portfolio management, Business Case development, and collaboration with the IS Architecture teams..
  • Development of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities across Amgen's commercial organization
  • Be part of multi-functional teams on projects and/or programs with aims to systematically derive insights that ultimately derive meaningful business value for Amgen and our patients
  • Identify business needs and proposing potential analytics approaches for solutions
  • Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts using Python or R
  • Build prototypes and demonstrations to better access and utilize data assets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with partners to develop use cases that are relevant to the business
  • Present analysis ideas, progress and results to business partners
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry standard methodologies
  • Assure compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements as it relates to data assets
  • Responsible to extends to multiple departments/functions. Responsible for supporting million dollars,
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of information systems technology and resources within multiple departments/ functions.
  • Facilitate process-mapping sessions for very sophisticated business processes. Supplies to and/or develops the ROI model and/or the business case.
  • Build sophisticated level ad hoc reports for sophisticated database structures using standard tools.
  • Build sophisticated software test plans, scripts, and tests.
  • Highly skilled in communication techniques.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Own the implementation of new programs, processes, and systems with multi-department/functions.
  • Influence system design, configuration and business processes.
  • Knowledgeable about all data outlets that clients work with.

Master's degree


Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in Information Systems in GMP regulated environment

Beyond that, the additional preferred qualifications are:

  • Education Background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Physics or Statistics
  • Experience in Data Historian Systems (DHS) like OSI PI
  • Experience on data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science
  • Experience working as business analyst, in a technology team
  • Experience with databases including relational, NoSQL, and Graph
  • Excellent organization/planning skills and talent for leading many large and sophisticated datasets
  • Ability to collaborate and influence business partners and other IS resources to drive analytic projects end-to-end
  • Ability to communicate analysis in a clear, detailed, and actionable manner
  • Written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Experience working with large datasets, experience working with distributed computing tools (Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Passion for learning and staying on top of current developments in sophisticated analytics
  • Experience or Knowledge of Cloud technologies would be a plus
  • Experience or Knowledge of Programming experience with Spotfire, Tableau, Python, R.
  • Experience or Knowledge of Data management technologies like Databricks or Oracle is a plus
  • Experience or Knowledge of any systems like PCS, MES or other ERP Business application
  • Experience or Knowledge of Data Analytical technologies like Tableau or Spotfire is a plus
