The Scientist /Senior Scientist, Cough and In vivo bioscience department within early Respiratory & Immunology role could be an internal career level C or D. The position will be filled commensurate with experience.

What you'll do.

In this role, you will be a key member of the in vivo team, performing studies which will help support a diverse range of projects. This role specifically involves working as a lab-based scientist in the area of in vivo pharmacology. As a strongly self-motivated and independent individual you will be adept at working across functional areas, enabling you to maximize value from the available resources. The role will sometimes involve implementing protocols over timelines that extend outside of normal working patterns.

Essential for the role:

•Excellent hands-on in vivo skills and the ability to independently run disease and mechanistic models, including administering candidate drugs and collecting a range biological samples.
•Experience of maintaining the highest standards of welfare and ethical compliance as well as ensuring the integrity of the data generated. Familiar with applying the principles of reduction, refinement and replacement across the full range of studies.
•Able to independently assess and report data with a clear understanding of its reliability, interpret findings and draw appropriate conclusions
•A thorough understanding of experimental design and of applying the appropriate statistical methods.
•Ability to perform in vitro plate-based analytical assays.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and able to proficiently use computers for data acquisition, processing, analysis and presentation.
•A BSc degree in immunology or pharmacology or other relevant Biomedical research area and in vivo research experience either in an academic or pharmaceutical research environment.

Desirable for the role
•A MSc/PhD degree in immunology or pharmacology complemented by a number of years working in the drug discovery environment.

•Experience of running in vivo models of rheumatological/gastrointestinal diseases and /or respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD.
