The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to selectstudents with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company's products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilateacquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains theopportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Job Description:
  • This diverse role will cover a variety of electromechanical activities in the Electrical Power Steering core engineering department related to the design of motors, circuit boards, headers, housings, and magnets.
  • Advance the development of new knowledge and critical understanding of electromechanical components through design, simulation, testing, debug, and engineering analysis of our products and our competitor's products.
  • Assist senior experienced engineers, on tasks as required, while being mentored and coached through engineering experiences.
  • Hands on involvement of production and prototype assembly/disassembly processes as part of facilitating testing and development work as needed.
  • Assist in co-op targeted special company activates as needed.
  • Learn organization and project management skills, that work across diverse distributed teams, to accomplish significant engineering objectives now and for the rest of your engineering career.

Job Requirements:
  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree within an applicable technical field including Engineering (electrical, mechanical, robotics, engineering technology), Physics (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics) or similar
  • Must be a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) during the Fall and Winter semesters
  • Must have a 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Must have the ability to work 20-32 hours per week during the Fall/Winter semesters
    • Able to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Willingness to work onsite as needed in Saginaw, Michigan
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
