WGL is looking for bright minds with analytics and/or engineering backgrounds such as yourself to build its Sales Engineering team.

Reporting to the Manager of Sales, you will bring new or incremental business to Washington Gas and develop new, reviews existing and presents market technical and non-technical solutions to drive revenue growth, particularly in complex commercial and multifamily segments. Initiate internal sales technical proposals, processes and procedures on new or enhancement of Natural Gas technical proposals and in field construction projects. Manage high visibility new business jobs technical end-use solutions and WG infrastructure solutions and interacts with external audiences to interpret WG's department guidelines and procedures.

Your daily duties will range from:

  • Managing energy analyses, revenue modeling, and technical design efforts; recommends and communicates construction planning and contractor construction activities related to new business growth.
  • Initiating internal sales processes to begin evaluating new business opportunities. Creates engineering designs and energy analyses, gathers all required documentation, communicates project intent and desired timetables, and works with appropriate support teams.
  • Project managing meetings with other parties including sales, construction, HVAC contractors, etc. to meet with technical and non-technical clients to answer all questions related to sales decision. Maintains account profiles on clients/customer accounts through corporate CRM tool.
  • Designing custom engineering end-use gas piping plans, equipment solutions and services targeted towards assigned technical and non-technical client/customer accounts. Identifies strategic engineering technical and non-technical plans for assigned accounts.
  • Develop, implements, and monitors sales targets and manages technical designs, and construction and sales data of complex commercial and multifamily to produce reports to highlight department activity and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Analyze and generates technical reports identifying appliance costs, energy usage, operating cost, and emissions, estimated cost studies for support of sales, sustainability, marketing and rate cases.
  • Interpreting business proposals, legislation, policies, NOPR rulings, etc. in conjunction with the strategic direction of the business unit.

We are seeking candidates with a minimum of: :

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering; Mechanical or Chemical engineering degree with a minimum 2 years system planning, design, sales training or sales engineering experience within the energy field
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of energy, mechanical and building codes applicable to energy equipment, its installation, and associated building designs.
  • Related theoretical/engineering and technical experience in the advanced energy and HVAC equipment/building construction industries and outside sales.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software , energy modeling/equipment specifying software and/or CRM systems.
