The Director, Platform Banking will lead the execution of digital experience solutions to enable the strategic goals of the direct bank. The primary focus of the role will be to expand products and services and generate deposits and/or fee income via partnership constructs while controlling the client experience. This position will work to identify and integrate services from other providers (mainly fintechs), in order to offer Sterling clients a broader range of financial products and services. This role will partner with the strategy, IT and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and subsequently create design requirements that delivery teams can consume to build direct bank experiences.

For the incumbent to enable holistic solutions recommendations and related design requirements, s/he will need to understand impacts of the strategy across the value chain, have a clear vision of impacts to the customer experience, and impacts to performance management of direct bank experiences. This is a highly-visible strategic role with significant interaction with cross-functional teams and leaders across the firm.

The incumbent of this role must demonstrate strong people leadership and teamwork skills and possess an aptitude for leading and influencing cross functional teams. This person must also have the ability to gather and analyze information to drive decisions and communicate them effectively to stakeholders throughout the organization. This position requires someone who will push the envelope and drive change in a collaborative way across the entire organization.

  • Work collaboratively with the Direct Banking leadership team to understand the strategy and the solution pipeline that enable Direct Bank vision, while remaining connected to the greater SNB strategy.
  • Define design requirements that bring these solutions to life. This includes understanding SNB's existing Technical Stack and building solutions that facilitate a best in class client journey.
  • Examine FinTech partnerships as part of the overall solution design and implement related solutions as needed to enable banking product and channel delivery.
  • Seek partners with divergent perspectives to help make high-quality, lasting decisions on solutions recommendations to enable the direct bank strategy.
  • Anticipate non-obvious risks to direct bank strategy implementation and propose recommendations to address these risks.
  • Gain agreement from primary and extended stakeholders across the company with compelling articulation of how proposed recommendations enable direct bank strategy.
  • Collaborate and oversee the design and launch of key enhancements to deliver exceptional end-to-end customer journeys. Be a customer advocate - champion consistent and seamless user experiences across all channels. Partner with Analytics and Digital teams to understand end-to-end digital performance - across traffic, engagement, conversion and account/customer quality metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to necessary training and enterprise level engagement as needed.


  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Digital, transformation, and process improvement, including designing digital experiences.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of Direct-to-Consumer and business market needs.
  • Expertise in identifying and designing solutions to bring digital strategy to life.
  • Understanding of industry trends in digital design and increased data regulation and privacy laws.
  • Understanding of Engineering, Design, and Digital principles and processes.
  • Strong customer empathy, experience shaping solution selection, and execution based on customer needs and strategy.
  • Candidates with advanced degrees (Associates, Bachelor's, and/or Master's) preferred, yet a High School diploma or GED is required. Candidates with some combination of coursework and experience, or else extensive related professional experience, are eligible for consideration.
  • Ability to connect to overall business strategy and design and execute on department strategy
  • Deep understanding of digital design and digital transformation.
  • Ability to manage a functional team, creating and directing strategy enablement.
  • Strong business orientation, track record of balancing risks versus rewards and maximizing the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business.
  • Data driven and analytical, while also being a creative thinker.
  • Excels at managing multiple initiatives simultaneously within tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
  • Strong communications, both verbally and written. Ability to influence others and establish/maintain collaborative relationships.
