Equipment Operator - CDL Laborer

Overview: Looking for an equipment operator to join our growing Turner team in Des Moines, Iowa area. Turner is central Iowa's largest General Contractor by volume specializing in commercial construction of all sizes with a growing self-perform division. Position Description: Responsible for operating several types of power construction equipment.

Reports to: Foreman, Superintendent, and Trades Manager

Essential Duties
& Responsibilities:


•Operate powered equipment to facilitate the scope of work as required on the project
•Powered equipment to be classified as earth moving, excavation, material handling, and aerial including, but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skidsteers, back hoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, street sweepers, fork lifts, shooting boom forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
•Deliver construction equipment to various job sites per DOT regulations.
•Duties may include but are not limited to performing physical labor in assistance with jobsite clean-up, using mobile cleaning equipment, rough carpentry, site logistics, material handling, traffic control, signaling, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, demo and construction waste areas.
•Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. Initiate and facilitate repairs as needed.
•Clean and maintain the physical appearance of the equipment
•Maintain the fuel storage area and order fuel as needed
•Manage and track utilization of rented equipment onsite. Document the condition of the equipment upon arrival and pickup. Report any damage to the superintendent.
•Manage subcontractor utilization of Turner equipment. Report any damage to the superintendent.
•Manage controlled access areas for operating equipment and loading and unloading
•Assists in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.
•Assist with the overall site safety and quality programs as required and ensuring Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security
•Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
•Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed
•Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of equipment operating experience and any current, or ability to obtain certifications to operate equipment.
Valid driver's license and Commercial Driver's License Required
Must be able to comprehend safety instructions and signage, communicate effectively in emergency situations and understand written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers
