Parsons Corporation - Structural Engineer - Wastewater - South Florida ( East Coast)

Parsons is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our South Florida team. The position will focus on structural design, construction administration and structural special inspection services for water/wastewater treatment facilities and large storm water conveyance and pumping structures. This position will be responsible for leading projects through planning, design and construction phases and interfacing with clients and permitting agencies on water, wastewater and storm water upgrade, expansion and new projects, while supporting project and design managers.

The ideal candidate will have an opportunity to work on multiple challenging projects and demonstrate depth of technical knowledge and leadership skills on various projects.

  • Primarily focused on performing, documenting, and coordinating structural analysis on a range of water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure projects, including the preparation of design criteria, conceptual design and preliminary engineering reports, field conditions assessments, preliminary design, final design, engineering services during construction and structural special inspections.
  • Develop design drawings, set-up 3D models and drawings according specified CADD and BIM (Revit) standards.
  • Assist project managers on large, complex projects, including task management.
  • Bring creativity in predesign and design for value added solutions
  • Maintain communication and strong relationship with regulatory agencies to support project permitting.
  • Communicate and work directly with clients.
  • Assist project managers in scoping and proposing on potential projects and selling new work.
    Minimum Requirements
  • A 4 years degree from a credited institute in Civil Engineering.
  • 5-8 years or more of experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering, primarily focused on treatment facilities
  • Professional Engineering License ( PE) Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer in the State of Florida is desirable, (or ability to obtain one, when hired)
  • Proven ability to perform in a lead project engineer capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
  • Experience in structural model analysis/simulation (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, and RAM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in planning studies, conducting field condition assessments, coordinating with utility owners, preparing preliminary and final design, coordinating drawing preparation, developing technical specifications, and performing engineering support services during construction.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English, both written and oral.
