Our location in Lake Bluff, IL currently has an opportunity for a Maintenance Manager.

The Manager of Lake County Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership and driving continuous improvement of the Lake County Maintenance, Construction Services and Stockroom operations in alignment of the business needs of the Lake County sites. The position drives operational excellence measured by continuous improvement of performance measures, develops customer intimacy and optimizes service portfolio to achieve business priorities. He/She is also accountable for establishing and enforcing the policies and procedures for this department whether they be in the technical, personnel or administrative areas. The position directs the activities of up to 10 exempt personnel, 95 nonexempt personnel and a contract workforce of up to 50 HC, based on construction project demands.

  • Operating under the general guidance of the Director, Lake County Facilities, Utilities and Maintenance Operations, the duties of this position include but are not limited to: planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the Plant Maintenance, Construction Services and Stockroom activities for the LC sites. More specific duties include the developing and issuing of goals, policies, procedures and programs to produce results in accordance with the corporate objectives as well as the objectives of individual divisions and departments.
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement processes throughout the organization, balancing customer service, cost and compliance to create value for the business.
  • The Manager of LC Maintenance must be able to develop and train subordinates in supervisory and management skills, develop budgets for labor and materials and control within budgetary constraints. He/she must measure the performance of all work groups that report to him/her and furnish guidance to insure progress toward the objective of the department.
  • The incumbent must analyze information (both long and short term) from divisions operating at the site in the areas of manpower, equipment and materials in order to support their maintenance needs. Client divisions/departments served by Plant Maintenance have combined operating budgets of over $250MM and maintenance budgets over $30MM

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree in other discipline acceptable when combined with significant operational management experience in manufacturing or other technical/operational role.
  • 10-15 years of experience in facilities maintenance, facilities management, facilities operations industry or 6-8 years Supervisory / Management experience
  • 5+ years involvement in Plant Engineering operations or a similar maintenance related environment are also required.
  • Given the large workforce, it is vital that this Manager be expert and effective in the management of labor relations. The skilled tradespersons, who make up over eighty percent of the Manager's employee population, compete and work in concert with outside contractors who are generally unionized
