Senior Manager Health Economics and Reimbursement

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Sr. Manager, Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) supports US market access efforts for Abbott leadless pacemaker technology. This role is an expert in coding, coverage, and payment and collaborates with both internal and external customers. The Sr. Manager HE&R works closely with the Global Director to ensure that customer and field reimbursement educational needs for Abbott leadless pacemaker technologies are met.

This position will report to the Global HE&R Director for Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM).

Job Duties

These are the key duties responsibilities which employees in this position are required to perform.
  • Understanding of Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) procedures and Abbott's CRM product portfolio, specifically leadless pacemakers.
  • Develops and manages strategic programs to educate healthcare providers on the reimbursement for leadless pacemaker procedures.
  • Provides coding, coverage, and payment reimbursement expertise and education for current and new customers for both Medicare and private payers.
  • Works with a team of health economic and reimbursement professionals to develop educational tools, programs, and messages that support reimbursement and market access for Abbott's leadless pacemaker technology.
  • Tracks regional reimbursement data for leadless pacemakers to support strategic objectives.
  • Works closely with the CRM therapy reimbursement team to develop leadless pacemaker value propositions for both healthcare providers and payers.
  • Provides direction on payer strategy. Manages key relationships with providers, payers, and Abbott teams as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain cross-functional partnerships within Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Legal, Regulatory to help create effective and compliant reimbursement materials to achieve business objectives and results.
  • Responsible for creating communication strategies to keep internal Abbott management regularly informed about coding/coverage/reimbursement issues affecting the company and its customers.
  • Exercises judgement in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status.
  • Uses best business practices to ensure success and cost effectiveness in areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures employee compliance with Abbott policies and practices.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

General Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years' reimbursement and/or market access experience required.
  • Must have medical device experience.
  • Functions independently.
  • Recognizes and raises strategic issues.
  • Willing to take on new challenges as they arise and share learnings.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple product responsibilities.
  • Thinks strategically with limited oversight.
  • Can lead discussion with commercial payers, senior level administrators.
  • Domestic travel between 50-80%.
  • Must have strong analytical and prioritization skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure and in a very dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a high degree of initiative, motivation and passion for the business.
  • Must be able to perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization and with hospital c-suite.
  • Excellent computer and software skills in graphics, word processing, authoring programs, etc. to develop presentation and training materials.
