Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott's Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies.The position of Accessioning Supervisor is within our Toxicology Division located at Richmond, VA at Alere Toxicology Services now Abbott RDx.In this role, you will responsible for overseeing the accessioning department and ensuring work is performed on an as needed basis in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Coordinate duties of personnel, including issuing assignments and making work schedules - Daily
  • Facilitate resolution to system malfunctions
  • Provide input and recommendations to improve daily operations in own department or in the laboratory as a whole
  • Counsel Accessioning employees when SOPs or corporate policies are violated
  • Train new employees on all procedures and old employees on new procedures
  • Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis
  • Review and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody form
  • Aliquot and bar-code specimens for initial analysis
  • Retrieve, aliquot, and bar-code specimens for confirmation analysis
  • Adherence to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information
  • Adherence to all established guidelines outlined in Alere's Employee Handbook


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least three to five years of experience in Accessioning
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with scheduling employees, managing performance and addressing disciplinary action


Preferred
  • Advanced ability to manage others
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills
  • Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Basic ability to understand a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other computer systems
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds
  • Ability to have full body movement
  • Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations
  • Ability to cope with stress of department oversight
  • Ability to understand and then communicate laboratory operations and the laboratory's process flow
  • Ability to make administrative decisions and judgments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide training
  • Ability to effectively manage time and schedules
  • Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to read and comprehend the SOP, Federal (49 CFR Part 40), and CAP-FUDT guidelines
  • Ability to provide input and recommendations on operations
