Discovery Biologics, Protein Sciences - Mass Spectrometry - Scientist

Job Description

Our Research & Development Division is seeking to recruit a scientist with experience in Biologics characterization (including antibody-drug conjugates - ADCs) to join the Protein Sciences Department in South San Francisco- CA. The position will be hands-on at the bench and will report to the mass spectrometry group leader.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform mass spectrometry-based analysis for biologics in support to Protein Sciences core activities.
  • Perform analytical routines for LC/MS systems maintenance, including calibration, system suitability, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle OEB4 and OEB5 compounds safely by following Environment, Health, and Safety protocols and procedures.
  • Manually aliquot and label vials containing purified proteins for storage
  • Prepare solutions and buffers following established SOPs.
  • Document data as needed in an electronic lab notebook.


Minimum Requirements

Education Requirement:
  • An MS or BS degree with 1-3 years of relevant laboratory bench experience.


Experience/Skills Requirement:
  • Have knowledge and hands-on experience with mass spectrometry-based analytical characterization of biologics.
  • Must be highly organized and have good communication and written skills.
  • Must have attention to details and the ability to follow written procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.
  • Good understanding of various analytical methods for protein characterization such as SEC, CE-SDS, HIC, RP-HPLC.
  • Hands-on experience with Agilent QTOF/TOF, and high-resolution Q-Exactive mass spectrometers platforms;
  • Experience with software platforms for intact mass deconvolution, including BioConfirm and/or Genedata Expressionist.
