Sr. Technical Project Manager/Product Owner, RDIT

Job Description

The Scientific Platforms team is a technology, solution, and architecture group within R&D IT. In addition to providing solution architecture and technical delivery capabilities to R&D IT stakeholders, the Scientific Platforms team manages cross-functional capability roadmaps and delivers custom-built applications using a product delivery approach. The Scientific Platforms team is seeking a Sr. Technical Project Manager/Product Owner to lead the design and delivery of these custom-built solutions, as well as to support technical project workstreams.

The Sr Technical Project/PO manager will lead agile project delivery for projects delivered by the Scientific Platforms team, including custom development projects and the management of technical workstreams for functional projects (projects for Research, Clinical Sciences, Global Regulatory & Safety, R&D Portfolio). The Sr. Technical Project Manager/PO will also serve as the Product Owner for those capabilities developed within the Scientific Platforms team. These capabilities will have multiple stakeholders across R&D and this role will be responsible for product roadmap, feature prioritization and delivery. Additionally, the Sr. Technical Project Manager/PO will be available to serve as a hands-on agile coach across RDIT for those teams needing support in agile project delivery.

Principal Responsibilities:
Product Ownership, technical delivery for capabilities delivered by Scientific Platforms:
  • Product/capability roadmap maintenance and socialization
  • Feature prioritization, backlog grooming
  • Definition of feature requirements and acceptance criteria (user stories)
  • Coordination of technical resources on feature delivery
  • Sprint demos, solicitation of customer feedback
  • Cross-functional communication and coordination (infrastructure, security, DEA, ITQ teams)

Project Management for technical workstreams
  • Stakeholder communication and status reporting
  • On time, on budget project delivery
  • Agile project management, including setting up a backlog and sprint ceremonies
  • Cross-functional communication and coordination (infrastructure, security, DEA, ITQ teams)
  • Tracking of project risks and dependencies

Agile Coaching
  • Hands-on assistance with Jira (using the tool, board setup) for teams in RDIT requiring support with Agile project delivery
  • Support in running Agile ceremonies (backlog grooming, requirements refinement, standup, demo) for teams in RDIT requiring support with Agile project delivery
  • Serve as a resource to answer questions around Agile project delivery and removing obstacles to delivery


Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in a software development environment, with expertise in Agile/Scrum methodology
  • 5+ years in project delivery in life sciences, drug discovery and development
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile/Scrum project management, including leading agile ceremonies and stakeholder communication
  • Understanding of the role of the Agile product owner and related responsibilities, including backlog prioritization and grooming, management of a strategic product roadmap aligned to stakeholder priorities
  • Experience working with cross-functional and matrixed teams, including software developers, infrastructure, enterprise application, security teams. Experience working with global and offshore teams.
