Background & Purpose of the Job

This Planning Lead serves as the CCBT (Customer Channel Brand Team) lead and represents all supply chain functions such as customer service, quality, planning, logistics, etc. Reporting to a SC VP with the Category General Manager to deliver growth, cash, cost, and service. The job will require interfaces with the SCLT as well as the Brand General Managers and Customer Development Teams.This role will be the face of category supply chain when discussing business needs, service issues, etc. with commercial teams as a business partner to the CCBTs to collaborate on strategy, operations, and execution and will act as a leader that has the ability to navigate ambiguity, developing vision & strategy that supports NA strategy, building followership, influencing senior leadership.

Commercial and Brand Focus

Key customer and brand facing is primarily focused on the management of supply chain relationships with key customers and service providers in a way that optimizes customer satisfaction & expectations while providing Unilever with a strategic advantage and builds customer growth. Develop and implement logistics and supply chain initiatives and capabilities in collaboration with key customers to improve mutual supply chain processes, activities and resulting measurements. Champion adherence to supply chain best practices. Collaboratively manage multiple links within overall customer supply chain function to achieve excellence in service. Work closely with cross functional partners to drive growth with customers on successful execution of service and key strategic initiatives.
  • Development of the 12-18month rolling sales forecast as well as the long-term sales forecast (18mths - 3 years) for all related categories. This individual will provide insights, guidance, and support to several x-functional teams through the weekly/monthly S&OP cycle with the objective of creating a realistic bottoms-up forecast and documenting any risks and opportunities. This individual is takes ownership and responsibility of the forecast challenging CD and CCBT on innovation, promo, and baseline forecast as needed in order to develop the most accurate and non-bias outlook of demand. The lead will drive the standardization and implementation of new SO&P tools, processes, and develops ongoing continuous improvement in collaboration with other categories. Additionally, this role will be responsible for rolling out new age technologies like cognitive automation, FEU, and Kinaxis.
  • Reconcile Demand and Supply by development and actioning of LTCP (18months - 3+ years), ensuring that growth rates are inputted into the system and utilizing Kinaxis to develop, insights and scenarios that can deliver the highest service. Outputs of the analysis need to be utilized to collaborate with logistics, manufacturing, and engineering to execute the agreed upon plans.
  • Deliver an active and robust innovation portfolio on-time and in full to drive profitable growth. This requires clear and transparent PMO processes, with clear communications of delays and mitigation plans, or if needed movement of in-market date discussions and decisions. Proactively lead the innovation planners to ensure dummy Innovation SKUs are planned appropriately within the system so that Procurement will have a clear line of sight into long term Material Requirements and capacities can be properly analyzed. Additionally, challenge innovation forecast with the CCBT based on data and insights. This individual will also play a critical role in identifying business risks and leading crisis management when necessary and ensuring the appropriate business tradeoffs are evaluated and plans are developed to protect business priorities and accelerate recovery.

Key Focuses:
  • Champion customers' key supply chain initiatives back to the business to improve mutual efficiencies and costs and provide new ideas or approaches to improve a consumer driven supply chain
  • Challenge holistic customer investment leveraging Supply Chain cost to serve to increase customer profitability
  • Develop and maintain a strong link with Customer Development Director and Management teams. Collaborate and partner with Customer Development teams to drive growth for the customer and for Unilever
  • Promptly respond to customer complaints and issues to optimize customer satisfaction and lower quality compliants
  • Strong in white space creating vision and strategy with customers that deliver against company targets/goals.
  • Strive to reduce inventory and waste while improving service
  • Ensure all safety, health and wellness programs


What You'll Need To Succeed
  • Bachelors degree in Operations / Logistics / Business / Engineering or equivalent experience, MBA degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant Supply Chain experience including 6+ as a Manager or leadership position including responsibilities for the oversight of a team
  • Broad-based experience including direct customer interface and S&OP experience is preferred
  • Empowerment, Experimentation and Collaboration a must
  • Holding people accountable, developing self and others, breakthrough thinking, optimizing Supply Chain integrated performance, strategic vision and influencing
  • Strong relationship management and team leadership both internally and externally
