BS / MS Scientist, Oncology Biotherapeutics

Job Description

Over 35 preclinical targets in our pipeline! NIBR Oncology strives to reimagine medicines for cancer patients through a combination of treatment approaches including antibody-drug conjugates, targeted protein degraders, and radioligand therapeutics. The Novartis Oncology Biotherapeutics Group is dedicated to the discovery and development of next generation biologics and is employing first-in-class approaches for the treatment of solid tumors and hematological cancers.
Are you a BS/MS Research Scientist who is highly motivated, innovative and collaborative? If so, you may be just what the Novartis Oncology Biotherapeutics group in Cambridge, MA is looking for! You will work on multiple programs at various stages of oncology drug discovery including the ideation, discovery, and optimization of antibody therapeutics for the clinic. You will have the opportunity to independently screen and perform in-depth characterization of drug candidates with advanced in vitro assays. You will become a critical contributor in a dynamic and multidisciplinary group, with opportunities to interact with other functional groups, to understand the process of preclinical discovery of oncology drugs, and finally to transform the lives of cancer patients.
You will be working towards exploring the biology of emerging drug targets, testing exciting novel biologics and studying their mechanism of action with the aim of eventually delivering drug candidates for evaluation in clinical trials.
You will:
• Perform in vitro assays to screen potent cell engaging antibodies and other biologics formats
• Carry out in vitro experiments to characterize drug candidates to support regulatory filing for first-in-human clinical trials. Techniques used will include but are not limited to: flow cytometry, cell sorting, cell culture, HTRF/ELISA immunoassays, luminescent-based cell assays, western blotting and CRISPR technologies
• Use of automation and high-throughput systems to support large scale drug screening
• Explore the biology of emerging drug targets or exciting novel formats of biologics
• Design and execute experiments with input from team members specialists; troubleshoot technical issues; analyze and interpret the data; formulate hypotheses and design follow-up experiments
• Document results in a detailed manner in laboratory journal and internal databases
• Present research updates and participate constructively in project team meetings and at laboratory group meetings
