SSDS Tactical Systems Analyst

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking experienced SSDS Tactical Systems Analyst to be part of our dynamic technical team, located in Wallops Island, VA at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will:
  • Preview setup for SSDS mission events utilizing a daily site element schedule
  • Initiate software installation and tactical core switch configuration for SSDS mission events
  • Review and author computer and combat system software installation procedures for SSDS systems
  • Configure SSDS tactical system Core switches to establish tactical interfaces
  • Performing analysis of the performance of SSDS tactical systems and correct core switch and other software issues to support SSDS mission events.
  • Perform functional analysis of system-level failures and provide recommendations for troubleshooting actions
  • Function as the back-up to the Site Test Director as the technical point of contact for SSDS mission customers
  • Provide recommendations to SCSC concerning SSDS core switch and software configuration issues
  • Assist visiting software installation teams while configuring SSDS systems

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and years of experience required: High School/GED and at least 5 years of experience with Navy tactical networks and systems.

Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired, but not required:
Active DoD security clearance
Experience in an RDT&E environment
