In this vital role you will play the role of a Technical Product Manager leading the vision, strategy and Engineering for Enterprise Data and Analytics products. This is an ideal job for someone who is passionate about making an impact in health care industry - by contributing towards developing next generation pharmaceutical innovative solutions, blending with fast-changing technology landscape of Big Data, Advanced Analytics and Data Science.

The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for Product Strategy, Planning, Marketing, Engineering and Finance for Data Science and Advanced analytics Platform - working closely with Data Science community at Amgen. This role requires closely working with business users and stakeholders - leading and managing a team of talented engineers to develop and maintain next generation Enterprise data science platform. The responsibilities of this role will also include budget management, talent management, vendor management and operations of the platform(s).

To be successful in this role, you must be extremely customer focused, detail oriented, and well organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You are able to balance strategy and execution, a self-starter, with passion and experience in data analytics product management

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product engineering team of 6-9 FTE Engineers in strategy, execution and operation of the platforms - by providing guidance, vision, strategy and direction for the product
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap, with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product, perform product demos to customers / partners, and drive adoption and re-use across the enterprise
  • Stay current with technology developments in data science and advanced analytics industry, and help steer the evolution of platform
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with peer organizations, partners, and software vendors
  • Work with customers and business partners to understand the needs and deliver on their highest priority features and requirements incrementally
  • Manage budget responsibilities, development of staff, resource planning and goal setting for the team
  • Provide guidance, career development support, and mentoring to technical team members, and help achieve maximum potential
  • Be a leader in the organization

Travel: Travel up to 10% may be necessary

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associates degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High School Diploma /GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

And

2 years of management experience directly managing people and / or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of product management experience in building and launching successful software products
  • A demonstrated experience working with Data Science and Machine Learning technologies, with passion for implementing Data and Analytics solutions at large organizations
  • Ability to motivate people and instill ownership, reliability, teamwork, and commitment in the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with different teams and peers in the organization, with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Possess an appetite for constant learning, thinking out of the box, questioning the problems & solutions with the intent to understand and solve better
  • Experience working as part of Agile software development team
