Specific Job Description:
The successful candidate will perform Supplier Quality oversight of suppliers. This oversight willinclude interfacing with suppliers in order to: audit/assess the supplier's quality managementsystem and their capabilities for performing critical manufacturing processes; perform relatedstudies to help insure that engineering and procurement specifications are met; initiate/validatesupplier corrective/preventive actions to drive resolution of problems discovered during supplierassessments; and help train/develop suppliers. Candidate may also investigate or coordinate theinvestigation and resolution of material-related non-conformances, and interface with internalProcurement and Engineering functions to facilitate the development and communication of partordering requirements. Technical writing and customer relations skills are essential. Must be ableto obtain DoD security clearance. In addition, working experience in a manufacturing environmentis desired, preferably including quality engineering, such as inspection, auditing, statistical analysis,quality assurance and quality control. Prior experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role is aplus. Project management/leadership experience is desired. Lean and Six Sigmatraining/certification is desired.

Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

-- Shipyard waterfront operations
-- Manufacturing/process engineering environment
-- Auditing
• Data analysis experience using MS-Excel
• Technical writing and customer relations skills
• Six Sigma and/or Lean training/certification
