Summary of Job Duties:

The Admissions Counselor for Transfer Central will develop and manage a pool of prospective students in one of our designated regions. The position will develop strategic partnerships with education constituents including transfer advisors, community college partners, UA alumni, and parents. This position will plan and implement effective recruitment strategies utilizing market research and ongoing trend analysis to set goals and monitor progress. The Admissions Counselor for Transfer Central will coordinate recruiting support activities with UA alumni; develop initiatives to promote and encourage diversity that reflects the state college transfer population and enriches the educational experience for all UA students; and assume other related areas of responsibility as assigned or required by the Dean of Admissions.

This position will work closely in the transition of students to the University of Arkansas from regional community colleges and will be required to have a frequent presence on designated campuses.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least one year of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting
  • At least one year of experience in transfer recruitment or advising transfer students

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of university and admissions office procedures and policies
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate attention to detail, meet deadlines, and think creatively
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including the ability to present to a large audience
