Vice President, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance

Leveraged and Acquisition Finance (LAF) is a division within Global Capital Markets under Global Banking. The team works with HSBC's existing corporate and institutional client base, together with new clients and financial sponsors, to provide strategic solutions in all areas of debt. The business is responsible for the arrangement, underwriting and syndication of event-driven and flow financing solutions as well as provide clients access to loan and high yield bond markets. The l team consists of an experienced group of professionals with a depth and breadth of experience in financial advisory, capital structure management and the origination and distribution of loans, bonds and mezzanine structures.

LAF Associate Director is a key role within the LAF team, responsible for working with the team to implement LAF's and the wider Investment Banking Group's strategy. In the role, you will be responsible for helping to both win new business and executing / leading leveraged finance based transactions, and routinely interacting with clients and investors.

The employee will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Supporting advisory and coverage delivery focused on broad range of clients
  • Financial Analysis: Developing valuations and creating/analyzing financial models, as well as conducting financing, comparative and pro forma analyses
  • Client Materials: Assisting in the preparation of presentations and other materials for clients
  • Transaction Execution: Interacting with clients and various levels of management, and acting as an integral part of the engagement team
  • Sector knowledge: Keeping up to date with the markets and the sector developments, understanding regulatory frameworks in relevant jurisdictions to support developing advice, valuation and financing structures
  • Collaborating with product and country teams
  • Supervising, training and reviewing the work of analysts/associates


Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
  • Previous investment banking or accounting experience, and good understanding of financial markets
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and valuation
  • Experience in developing marketing materials
  • Experience with common databases (such as Bloomberg, Factset, etc)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Evidenced deal experience
  • Understanding of HSBC Group and products
  • High levels of motivation and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated capacity to build a network of contacts, both internal and external, in the context of interactions with colleagues and clients
  • The position requires a self-confident person who is highly motivated and reliable, with strong team spirit
  • Bachelors' degree from a leading university and exceptional academic performance
  • FINRA Licensing S79, S63, S7 required. On an exception basis, a 120-day contingency period can be offered to obtain licenses, strictly at the manager's discretion.
