System Administrator x86 (2nd shift)

Role Value Proposition:

We are seeking a Mid-level distributed Server Administrator with Windows, Linux RedHat Server and VMware skills. The Purpose of this role is to better support our 24X7 operations and allow for faster turnaround time to implement security updates installation for application migrations and capacity increases. The role will work 2nd shift- second M- F 3PM to 11:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will be working with various enterprise application development and core services teams to implement and maintain Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 and RedHat 6 -7 on x86 hardware platforms as well as installing and maintaining VMWARE ESX servers and vms.
  • The candidate will be responsible for adhering to documentation for the installation, maintenance, support, and hardware/software procedures for enterprise ESX host and VM.
  • Troubleshoots Windows and ESX server and RedHat Windows OS issues. Independently utilizes all available resources (knowledge bases, online resources, etc.) to ensure timely resolution of server issues.
  • Installs and configures Windows server hardware and software, to include physical and virtual servers, Linux RedHat, Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, VMware ESX, Virtual Center, and VMotion.
  • Follows operating procedures and utilizes established support tools for analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Interfaces with Network Engineers, Storage Engineers, OS Engineers, Database Administrators and Application Teams to optimize systems use and configuration.
  • Provides technical knowledge and recommendations to staff members as required and deliver best in class customer support.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:
  • The candidate must have x86 hardware background and be familiar with HP Proliant stand alone, HP Blade System platforms, Cisco UCS, and EMC SAN storage.
  • Extensive experience in Windows 2008/20012/2016 administration support and on x86 hardware
  • Extensive experience in RedHat 6/7 administration support and on x86 hardware
  • Good working knowledge within VMware ESX management.

Preferred:
  • 3+ years of experience in all phases of enterprise installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems, network and operating systems and storage management.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Computing System.
  • Knowledge of VCE vBlock
  • Bachelor's and/or relevant industry certifications
