Job Description

To work in a team environment supporting various activities related to Freelance Contract Administration.Receive requests from editors for new contracts; send the requested contract to the freelancer and follow up as necessary; receive the signed contract from the freelancer and enter required data into the contract database.
  • Track, on a daily basis, overdue contracts and send reminders to freelancers. Work with editors and desk staff if unable to obtain signed contracts in given timeframe.
  • Assist Newsroom Administration to set up access to freelance database for editors and staff, following established approval processes.
  • Assist accounts payable staff in maintaining freelancer information in the A/P system, as required. Work with various staff members, including Syndicate staff, to monitor the newspaper and for instances where work is published without a valid right contract, and follow up with editors or managers in New York as needed.

  • 1 year of related work experience
  • Minimum 30 hours in Business or related field at an accredited university
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other databases a plus.
  • Demonstrate analytical, methodical and resourceful approach in problem solving work atmosphere.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, necessary to articulate ideas and prepare analyses.
  • Good interpersonal skills, necessary to build and maintain relationships and interact well across all levels.
  • Strong sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize and ensure completion of critical tasks.
  • Ability to assess and inform supervisor of work related issues.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities, circumstances, and personal interaction styles.
  • Effective performance with minimal supervision.
